Sometimes my demons and I wrestle, sometimes we just snuggle.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~(Aphmau's POV)
I looked around and noticed my father was heading into his study with the Ro'Meaves, excluding Garroth.
"Follow me," I whispered in his ear as the song ended. I walked slowly and he followed a good eight feet behind. I walked down a hallway and waited around. Once he had also rounded the corner, I grabbed his and and ran into my room.
"Where are we?"
"My room."
He smirked and removed the pendent. He slipped it into his pocket and I watched with amusement as his hair went back to normal, his features became more defined and his green eyes turned blue. He neared me and went to place a hand on my cheek, but I pulled away.
How could I not think of it before?
I would burn him.
"What's wrong?" He frowned.
"You'll burn," I breathed. He closed his eyes and let out a breath with a small smile tugging at his lips. He kept coming closer, but I kept trying to back away. Eventually, my back hit the wall behind me, and Garroth was pinning me.
"I'd rather burn than never get to touch you again," he chuckled. Slowly, he lifted a hand and cupped my cheek. I held my breath, expecting him to immediately pull away and hiss in pain. Instead, he smirked victoriously and leaned his forehead on mine. "Cold as porcelain."
Our noses brushed as we both leaned closer, our breath mingling in between us.
"Aphma- WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?!"
Gene burst through the door and then pushed Garroth off of me, pinning him to the floor. His eyes widened and he immediately started to attack.
"YOU DARE EVEN GO NEAR HER?!"
"GENE, STOP!" I shouted, but he couldn't hear me. Well, he wouldn't hear me.
"YOU DARE TO EVEN SHOW YOUR FACE?!"
I watched in horror as Gene grew in size, his demonic shadow knight form beginning to rise. I panicked and shot flames at him. I then decided to do the one thing I swore never to do.
I closed my eyes and focused on my darkest moments and memories. I felt the familiar burning of shadows swarm me and then I casted them forward. Gene was pinned to another wall, and Garroth looked at me with horror. He rushed over to me and shook my shoulders.
"Aphmau, snap out of it," I could hear his voice, feel his hands, see his face, but I couldn't move. It felt like I had escaped my body, and could only watch through limp eyes.
"What's going on?!"
Voices.
Loud voices.
Footsteps.
My name being shouted.
"I love you."
Darkness.
(Garroth's POV)
"Garroth?! What are you doing here?! Where's Vylad?!" Father stormed in with the Shadow Lord, and several guards were trying to contain me. I fought and tried to go back to Aphmau.
"Aphmau! Snap out of it! Aphmau!" My shouts were relentless, and she stood in a trance. The shadows in the room were flying around like crazy.
Gene had passed out.
They were trying to get me to leave the room.
Aphmau's eyes remained a ghostly white.
"Aphmau! I love you!"
They had finally got me out of the room, and I was being pushed down a different hallway than where we had entered.
"What were you thinking?!" Father hissed.
"You lied to me," I pulled out of his grasp, "about everything. You're not dying."
"I did lie to you, but it was for your own good. You had no right to deceive us!"
"Me deceive you?! You're one to talk! The woman I love is in danger right now, and I'm going to go and get he-" I was about to push past, but my mother placed a hand on my heart.
Her magic was about life. And she looked me in the eyes with hurt as I felt my energy drain from me, and I fell limp onto the ground.
Then all I saw was darkness.
When I woke up, I was in chains. My hands and feet were cuffed, and my eyes were covered. The only part of my body that I could feel the cold air nip at was my nose and mouth. Everything else was either chained, tied, wrapped, or cuffed.
"WHERE AM I?!" I yelled.
"Relax, your location is confidential, but for now, you are safe."
The soothing sound of my mother's voice reached my ears, though it was muffled through some sort of cloth. I felt a warm hand rest on my cheek.
"I'm sorry I had to do what I did, I only hope you could forgive me," she whispered, her words watery as her voice wobbled. I could tell she was crying.
"I don't blame you," I reassured.
"This is the safest place for you, we can't risk you to be anywhere when you're this unstable."
"I'm not unstable."
"You're running on heartbreak, you're unstable," I could feel her sad smile as I felt her pat at my scalp. That meant my hair was out and the top of my head was exposed.
"Am I laying down?"
"Yes," she confirmed.
"Is anyone else here with us?"
"No, I am the only one here. And I'm here to look after my son, not the prince of O'Khasis, not the traitor, not the rebel, not the lovesick psycho, not the assassin, but my son."
I let out a small sigh, even though everything was a mess in my life, I was still her son. For some reason that comforted me more than anything. That no matter what happened, I was still her son. And she still loved me as one.
"They trust you to be alone with me?"
"Perhaps, but nothing was going to stand in my way of taking care of you."
"I'm chained, and restrained. How is this good?"
"Your father worries about your mental health, and what you'll do with all of your senses. So for now, you can only taste, smell, and hear. It's for your own good."
"And everyone elses," I expected her to lie.
"Correct," I smiled. Of course my mother wouldn't lie to me, she would never have the heart to.
"Do you know what happened to her?"
"No, but if I find out, I'll tell you."
As long as my mother still loved me, then I never felt like a monster.
Maybe that's why Aphmau was so emotional when called a monster. She lost her mother.
