Meeting of Minds

The head of the council walked into the control room...she wore an impassive face which showed little emotion.

"Have the reading been doubled checked?"

"Yes madam president they have been"

"Call me Marissa.......I prefer it to all this formal nonsense"

"As you wish Marissa"

As a figurehead she only had power by her title.....temporal control was deemed to be a fairly routine and mundane duty....only a few of us had the power to actually do anything positive....but procedure and protocol meant that a 'white collar' menial or a monarchist would need to be present when it was being done.

"So what have you decided to do?"

"Earth is too primitive so sending a temporal agent to question them will be pointless...knowing how violent they are in this stage of development then our agent is likely to be eliminated....or imprisoned....as an illegal alien"

"Good point.......alternatives?"

"We have studied the flow of data and apparently the breach occurred because of an illegal attempt to cease control of the planet....the options are limited....we can send a guardian into the time zone.....mingle as an Earth citizen but armed with the knowledge of the era"

"And the other options?"

"Close the rift......this would of course mean that there was now a being inside another universe who didn't belong there"

"That would be catastrophic"

"Under normal circumstances it would be....however it had been determined that the transgressor has entered the alternate universe and replaced their counterpart....it has had no bearing on time events"

"That is very interesting.....so to send a guardian into this time zone seems to be the best option.....have you anyone in mind?"

"Yes.......I was thinking of myself"

"You do realise the risks"

"I do.......it would be an honour to be responsible for restoring the time lines"

"I will speak with the remainder of the council members but cannot see any problem.......when was you thinking of attempting the crossover?"

"No time like the present......as soon as the word is approved"

"Take the time to do some further research....I applaud that you are going to enter this time zone but you need to know about all of the people involved.....find out how this happened too"

This is what I had dreamt about for all my life....to become a temporal agent.....to become a fixer and I was ready for the challenge.
