Chapter 3

" Hello, hello are you there ? " he asked. I'm speechless almost dropping my phone. Managing to keep it in my hand I answer " Y...yes I'm here. "

"I thought I lost you there for a minute," he chuckled. The way he spoke in almost perfect english, which surprises me.

" Hello Sierra you there? " he asks again. Oh my god I'm liking the way my name rolls off his tongue. What the hell I'm I doing, I need to answer him sometime.

"Yes, I'm still here " I answer." Uh yeah, Well you never did answer back from earlier ". So I took this chance to call you to see if everything okay," he says. " Oh I'm sorry I was busy, " I tell him.

" Are you at home? " Cause its night over there right? " he asks.

" Yes I am, " I say as a car comes down the street playing loud music. " What was that? I thought you said that you were at home, " he tells me in a stern voice. I was taken aback for a sec but dropped it.

" Oh but I'm still in the car in my driveway, "I tell him. We talk for five minutes or so before hanging up. Getting out of the car and stretching before walking to my front door.

Walking in the living room, I see my mother with a sleeping Aya on the couch. Flopping down and sighing. " You look tired and...." my mother says facing me. " What? " I asked putting my feet on the coffee table.

Pushing my feet to the floor she questioned " Why were you just sitting in you're car for so long? ". " So you were watching, " I laugh." I'm serious I was worried you when you didn't come home  at your usual time. So when I heard you pulling in the driveway, I was relieved, " she says.

" As you can see, I'm fine Mom, " I yawn. " I just don't want a repeat of what happen last time. You usually call or text me when your gonna be late, " she says. Thinking to myself why does she care now, Hell she didn't even believe me at first when it happened. But you only got one mama, I love her.

" Ok, okay I know but I am tired, " I say picking up Aya. " Goodnight, " she said. " Goodnight, " I say back easing my way upstairs being careful not drop her. Taking her to her room, tucking her in. Planting a kiss on her forehead, turning around to go to my room. Crashing on my bed, letting out a huge yawn before drifting off to sleep.

2 weeks later......

I'm at my cousin's daughter's birthday party. Chilling with family and friends on the backyard deck." If one more mosquito bites me, I'm going in the house, " I think to myself as I swipe my legs for what seems like the hundredth time. It's a nice day but it's hot as hell. Looking over to the pool seeing that the kids are having fun swimming. They're so loud, my head is starting to throb besides that, I'm hungry as hell. I'm like when is the food gonna be ready.

Just then my cousin Javon sits in the chair next to me and says, " Are you enjoying yourself you look out of it. "

" I just got a little headache that's all, " I tell her. " Quit lying you're making a face either your hungry or you want to leave, " she laughs. " Okay, you know me well, " I laugh back.

" Alright everybody food's done come and eat! " my cousin's husband Rob says. Then they started rushing in the house. I mean I can see the children doing this but they're adults as I shake my head. I walk into the house, see that they had a nice spread of food. BBQ ribs, hamburger, hot dogs and metts. And the sides were collard greens, mac and cheese, potato salad and corn on the cob. Man this food is making my mouth water so I grab me plate me, start placing food on it.

When we're done eating it was time to sing " Happy birthday " to the birthday girl. My cousin takes the cake out the fridge and places it on the table. In a instant all the kids are gathered in front of it. Making room for my cousin's daughter Nayla with Aya by her side.

After wishing her Happy birthday she blows the candles out, as many phones goes a flashing. I look over and see Aya messing with the cake trying to get a piece by digging her
hands in it. Moving her from the table, telling my cousin " Sorry ". I head to the nearest bathroom cause she has cake all over her face and hands.

" What were you thinking? " I laugh while wiping her hands. She giggled," I wanted some cake but they was taking too long to cut it. "

" Well don't do stuff like that again Aya, " You hear me? " I scold her.

Coming out the bathroom, We go to the living room where everyone is now. Nayla is down on the floor opening up her presents. Aya rushes over to see what she's got, they were excited over a toy that was unwrapped.

Hours later after talking, laughing and the kids showing us the newest dance moves. Cleaning up, Javon comes over to me showing me pictures she's taken of the party. Smiling she says " I'm gonna upload these and see how many likes I get.

" Not thinking much of it I say, " Ok, You do that. " A few minutes later, I'm saying my goodbyes and walking to my car. Carrying Aya placing her in her car seat. We set out for home.

On the other side of the world, someone sent an laptop crashing to the floor. Fuming mad at what they've seen. So upset causing a chair to fall backwards to the hit floor. Running fingers through their hair and cursing.

Sorry for the late update I have a habit writing down my work first before putting it on here.
And I was getting micro's and those take time and hurt like hell but they turned out good.😊
