Chapter 14

Saturday morning ~

While doing my laundry my manager called me. He asked me to come in today to cover for someone that was sick. I thought to myself, " I should do it cause I needed the extra money. I should be able to work and meet Chan on time right ? "

But it was busy that day, I left close to 4:00 pm. So I went over to the coffee shop to see if he was still there waiting. I got there, he wasn't no where in sight. Then my phone rang, seeing that it was from the male friend of my mother's Steven. So I answered it even though I didn't want to.

" Hello, " I said to person on the other end of the phone.

" Where are you ? I'm at the school to pick you up, " he asked.

" Why ? " I asked feeling something was off.

" Your mother's in the hospital, she had an accident at work. Where are you? So I can come get you, head over to the hospital, " he said.

" I'm at the coffee shop across the street from campus, " I told him in a rush as worry set in.

His car pulled up in little under two minutes later, rolling his window down he told me, " To get in, " which I did in a hurry. " Is it serious ? " I asked feeling my stomach drop when he answered, " I don't know ? I just came straight over to pick you up when I heard the news. " Then we sped off at full speed to the hospital not literally but it sure felt like it cause we were there in no time flat.

The next day ....

I am so glad that my mom's okay, it wasn't serious. She slipped and fell at work breaking her foot. I tried calling Chan while at the hospital but he didn't answer my calls. When I got to class and tried to explain, he totally ignored me. Saying he was busy as he left the classroom.

After that, Everytime I would see him, he would ignore me. That kind of hurt a bit but I couldn't let it get to me. Sometimes I would get this eerie feeling that someone's watching me. But told myself, " I don't have time to be paranoid, I need focus on school. "

One day at the cafeteria with Maria and Stacy. They we're telling me about a party next weekend. Which I quickly refused to go to.

" Come on it'll be fun, " Stacy whined.

" Yeah you're not gonna spend your entire time in college studying all the time," Maria whined grabbing a hold of my arm.

" There's nothing wrong with studying, " I told them feeling embarrassed because they were so loud.

" No but you need to have a life outside of school and working, " Maria said.

" Yeah, I know you hang with us and when we ask you to come to parties or clubs you barely come. And when you do, You always find an excuse to leave somehow or another, " Stacy stated.

" So........? " I questioned rising from my seat.

" So, come to the party with us, " they said grabbing onto my arms as we walked out the cafeteria.

The weekend of the party ~

We enter the house of a rich student that goes to our school. It's crowded and I instantly felt self conscious.

Then we see couple people we knew, began talking to them. In a serious discussion with one of them not noticing that Maria and Stacy had left me.

I couldn't believe they just left me like that. Scanning the room and not seeing them. I decided to leave but before I could make it to the door. I felt a hand grab my wrist.
