Sky High

Light blue. That was all I could see for a few moments until grass blocks appeared... in the sky?! ... and then.. Ivor?!
"Ivor look out!" I yelled warningly, but before he could move I had already landed on him pushing him over the edge.
"Ugh!" He grunted as he dug his hands through the soil, clutching tightly on. As I rose back onto my feet, I knelt down and tugged him up as hard as I could. Eventually, he was back on the grass.
"Sorry about that Ivor" I apologised as I rubbed the dirt off my legs. "But you sure are heavy!"
He glared at me, clearly offended as he panted "I am.. the proportionate weight for my height.. thankyou very much!"
We both stood up in unison as Petra and Lukas stood over by us. The wind was freezing up here and all had for comfort was a random patch of grass blocks in the sky. Perfect. But surely there must be something else if Aiden,Maya and Gil were nowhere to be seen.
"So any sign of the Blaze Rods?" I asked toward the other two. Lukas shook his head whereas Petra just stared at me confused.
"No.. nothing" She began slowly "Jesse what was Maya talking about back there? You never mentioned you threatened her." She sounded annoyed.
I sighed. I knew I couldn't keep it in any longer but I didn't want them to know the truth. Some hero, right?
"Okay no I didn't. She tried to take the flint and steel and I pushed her to the ground. She told me that if I didn't give her it she'd find a way, even if it meant hurting my friends so I threatened I'd hurt her badly if she did"

You're lying again Jesse. That's not what she said. She said hurting Petra. Because Maya knew. But I couldn't tell Petra that.

Petra's eyes widened. She was annoyed clearly but she spoke a little less harsher "Okay, so why didn't you tell us that before?"
"Well because I was embarrassed I guess-"
I began to explain myself when Ivor cut in "I hate to break up this lovely conversation but we are preocupied right now!!"
Petra and I looked at eachother before nodding. Lukas, sensing the awkwardness pitched in "How do you think Aiden knew where we were?"
"Because he's a creep thats how" Petra remarked before walking to a corner of the mini grass block island as did Ivor. It seemed like nothing was over the edges. Nothing in that corner, that corner, that corner, that- oh my god.
As I peered over the edge, a city emerged between the clouds. It was fairly huge to be in the clouds and was decorated like a kingdom that was white, golden and purple. Almost like the portal. The others noticed and were as awed as I.
"That city looks incredible" I said, as Ivor started jumping up and down beside me like a child. Petra placed her hands on her hips in agreement and Lukas' eyes stayed wide. "That means there must be a way to get down there!" Ivor said.
"I don't see any ways down there. It looks like it could be a problem" Petra replied.
"Well we could just build ourselves down there? With the blocks?" I suggested. The others nodded.
- some time later -
Before we knew it, we were on the same level as the city.. It looked way taller than it did when we were up above. We began - with the rest of the dirt blocks - to build a pathway. Eventually, we reached the end. As I turned back to see if everyone had reached the city safely, my eyebrows raised as I noticed something.
"Seriously Ivor?" Petra questioned before I could say the same thing. He chuckled "Sorry, can't help myself!" In the middle of the bridge we made, he had made a soil built skeleton with lava pouring out of its eyes. Typical.
"You're.. you're building!" A scared voice from behind us spoke. We turned around to see a citizen with black hair and a white jumper on staring at us terrified. I frowned at him "What's wrong with building?"
Building was great! The amount of times we'd built preparing for Endercon.. Great. Now I'd saddened myself again thinking of past times. Thinking of him.
"It's prohibited here!"
"Huh. That's strange" Lukas commented.
"Indeed." Ivor agreed. "Tell me citizen, have you seen some ill mannered children running around in ridiculously matching leather jackets? Named the Blaze Rods?"
"I.. I'm sorry.. I can't talk to you!" Before we could even react, the citizen ran off.
"Great. Wonder if they're all like that! I'll go see if everyone else is that rude" Ivor rolled his eyes and began walking into the city. Lukas followed and as I began to follow suite, I felt Petra tug my arm. I turned back to face her.
"Jesse, wait."
"What?" I sighed.
"Look, I know things aren't good with us and I get why you didn't wanna tell me or the others what was said"
This hurt. Why would she choose now to bring it all up? Couldn't it just wait til later? I felt slightly slick - and it wasn't because of the height.
"But you don't need to feel embarrassed. The amount of times I've threatened people is crazy"
"I.. I don't know what to say Petra" I awkwardly looked at her and anywhere else I could.
She must've sensed this awkwardness too as she sighed a little "Lets just go inside. We can talk later"
She headed into the City and I followed on after her. But I didn't want to.
Part of me just wanted to jump off the edge. Just leave the heroics to everyone else.
But I didn't. Because I'm supposed to be the hero. But here? Who knows...
