Kevin stood still unable to process the situation. He looked to his left and right wondering what the hell was going on. Is that Derek? Why is he here when he's supposed to be on his way home?
Kevin's eyes were fixed on the three new strangers. He noticed one of them had his hand on Saera. His glare deepened.
"Just who the freaking hell do you think you are bastard, to treat my friends this way? Get your slimy hands off of her!" Kevin's voice came out in a soft growl. Derek lifted his head to take a peek at his friend. He was taken aback seeing kevin all heated up. Damn it kevin! Get the hell out of here this instant! Derek wished he could get his thoughts out and put them in words. He cursed himself for being so weak and reckless.
The blonde guy let go of Saera and made his way towards kevin. The deep look in his eyes frightened kevin. He felt like a helpless prey, cornered by its predator.
"Don't you... dare... lay a finger... on him Sean!" Derek's breath came out ragged. Saera's chest clenched seeing him this way. Hang in there Derek.
A sly smirk appeared on Sean's face as he took another step towards Kevin. Now he was standing eye to eye with him.
Sean's interest had perked up. So the slayer isn't the only human he's looking out for huh. This is going to be fun.
"What will you do if I lay a finger on him Ryder? Rip me apart? Shred me to pieces?" His smirk widened and he let out an evil chuckle which sent shivers and goosebumps all through Saera's body.
"You look like thrash right now Ryder, keep you pathetic threats to yourself".
Kevin was cornered to the wall. The other two vampires had closed in on him, leaving no room for escape.
"So... you want to know who we are? Are you sure you want to know human? There's no going back once you know." Sean looked over his shoulder, his smirk not leaving his face.
"What do you say Ryder? Shall we let him in on our secret?" Derek could only send venemous glares at the blonde vampire. Kevin looked at each of them confused. Saera was trying hard to plead Kevin through her eyes to run away as far as he can. But being the idiot he is, he just stood glued to the ground not moving an inch.
Kevin shuddered feeling coldness creep onto him. Standing so close to these three felt like standing besides corpses. Their eyes looked lifeless. Emotionless.
Sean traced his cold fingers against the side of Kevin's throat, making him shudder. Who the heck are these guys?
"Who we are? Are you still pondering over that question?" Sean let out a cruel chuckle at the frightened guy's shocked expression.
"Naive human. I can hear your thoughts loud and clear." His lips pulled back into a sneer, showing out perfect milk white gleaming set of teeth which seemed much sharper than regular humans.
Kevin's breath hitched. Everything was spinning around him.
"I clearly have no objection in letting you in on our secret. But trust me boy, you will regret knowing it" he placed his lips close to Kevin's ear as he whispered in a mocking and threatening tone.
Sean was clearly enjoying this moment. He was in pure bliss. He had caught a slayer from a prestigious family who was nothing but a typical girl, a worthless human boy and more importantly precious Derek Ryder, useless, weak and cornered to a wall.
"Let... kevin go... you worthless.. creature!" A squeaky voice spoke behind him. It was so shaky and soft; it was barely audible. But to a vampires ear, it was loud as ever.
Saera should have never spoken out. That was her biggest mistake.
Sean's nostrils flared, anger burnt within him, his pupil dilated. With a low growl and just one measly stride he was standing face to face with her. Sean lifted his hand and slapped her across the face. A sickening noise was heard as his hand came in contact with her soft cheek. He then grapped her forcefully by the back of her head, forcing her to look at him eye to eye. Their foreheads brushed each other, his cold breath on her face. Saera let out a cry in pain.
"Call me worthless one more time, and I'll snap your neck in half, with the blink of an eye!" He snarled.
Saera was shivering more than ever now. But one thing remained unchanged. The fire in her eyes. The defiant look in her gaze never faltered. They were fierce as ever.
"My my, those gleaming effective green eyes of the Forbes. Full of power... and superiority." He moved even closer, closing the tiny gap between them. Saera shut her eyes instantly as he ran his tongue over her eyelids.
She shivered with pure and utter disgust.
Sean loved it. Every bit of what was happening right now. He felt stronger. Much superior and in power than the 'Gifted' vampires. Heck even more than the old original vampires themselves!.
"Your eyes. They look so beautiful. And tasty. I feel like I want to gauge them right off your eye sockets" Saera opened her eyes at once and stared at him in disbelief like he's gone mad or sprouted another head.
He let go of her head, and slid his hand to the front, gripping her
Face hard from either sides of her cheeks.
"You pathetic slayers. Thinking so high and mighty of yourselves, when in reality you all are nothing compared to us immortals." The two other silent vampires nodded their heads agreeing to what Sean was saying.
Slayer? Immortal? What the freaking hell does those even mean? This guy's a lunatic! Kevin thought miserably. He was cold to his feet. His legs felt like jelly, wobbly and weak.
Derek on the other hand was a sight unbearable to see. Red sunken eyes, lips gone a deep shade of blue, his skin pale and white as a sheet of paper, even his beautiful golden hair was losing its wonderful texture.
Cursing to himself he forced himself to get to his feet. Saera... Saera.. Her name kept repeating in his mind encouraging him to keep going.
He could feel it very well. Like it was his own. Her fear and anguish. It crushed his soul. A low growl escaped his lips.
"Get your... Filthy hands.. Away... From her you Weakling Vampire. How dare... You go against us!" Derek very well knew spitting out the word 'Weakling' would get Sean's attention.
The anger Sean had felt earlier was merely nothing compared to how he was now. His blood boiled with fury.
Sean took quick strides towards Derek and kicked him in the gut. Derek doubled over, his breath coming out hard and ragged.
Sean grabbed Derek by the hair, forcing him to look at him in the eye.
"Don't underestimate us! Those fools, The Old Ones separating us according to status." His face twisted with disgust.
"Well I'd love to shove you in their faces. I'd love to see their reaction when they come to know that one of their precious 'gifted' vampire is associating with a good for nothing slayer and being all chummy with a lowly human." He made a clear strong emphasis on the word 'gifted' like it was poison to his tongue.
"I never thought you would sunk so low Ryder. You have no right to call me a weakling vampire when you yourself is nothing more than an inferior vampire!" His husky voice coming out with a snarl would have frightened anyone standing in Derek's place making them wish they never existed or might have pissed in their pants, but Derek on the other hand didn't even flinch, let alone blink an eye as he glared back at Sean with pure hatred.
Sean forced Derek to the ground once more, kneeing him hard on the shoulder.
While Sean's attention was elsewhere, Saera tried to inch her way out of there but then her head along with her long mass of brown wavy curls were pulled back hard making her scream out in pain.
Once again she came face to face with the monster, but something seemed off. His rage was clearly showing on his face. His anger glared. He couldn't control himself anymore.
"This human is the one you're dying to protect right? Well you're too late Ryder! Regret it for all eternity bastard!" And saying so he bared his fangs at her and sank them into her smooth throat.
