Why is the world so cruel?  Saera dropped her head onto the cafeteria table as she moaned in annoyance. She was well aware that her friends were exchanging glances and watching her worried.

hmm... they would never understand what I'm going through. some are really lucky to live oblivious to everything happening around them

It had been a week already and Derek Ryder was still nowhere to be seen. His so-called-friends had no idea where he was or where he was living and Kevin was acting as if the entire human race is about to vanish!

If it was the past Saera she would have just minded her own business not bothering much about his dissapearences. But right now she couldn't afford to not worry nor bother. She wanted some serious answers and only Derek had them.

Saera grew restless each day when she came school and found out Derek was still missing. She was over her limit of patience but part of her was relieved that a day more was extended in finding out what was going on.Saera was afraid of finding out the truth.

She was lost in her deep thoughts wondering what she would do if she came to find out the truth about Derek. What should my reaction be? what if its something I don't expect?will I be able to accept it? Her thoughts kept being disturbed by voices unknown .

"Saera... Saera.. SAERA..!" Saera jerked her head back startled. She looked around her and found her circle of Friends staring at her.

"Girl, you have got to get a hold of yourself. What's going on? Why are you this stressed out?" Mia laid a comforting hand on Saera's shoulder. Saera brushed it away gently, stood up, grabbed her bag and started to walk away. "Nothing's wrong guys. Honestly. just Family issues." And before they could ask her anymore questions she managed to leave the cafeteria and get away from the intense stares of her girlfriends.

There was still 15 more minutes left till lunch break was over. Saera decided to head over to the library where she could have some peace as she was in great need for some lonely time to herself.

Loosening her grip from her bag's strap she made her way towards the library when suddenly a cold chill ran down her spine. She was well aware of this familiar feeling. Her breath came out in a slow rhythm.

Turning around swiftly she saw someone who made her blood boil in fear and at the same time made her heart squeeze in pleasure.

"Derek.." His name left her lips even without her conscience. He was walking her direction, more precisely towards her, yet his expression seemed distant. Like he was unaware of her presence nor anyone's around him. His absence from school had caused quite a stir so his sudden appearance didn't go unnoticed. He got many stares from the guys around as well as his fangirls who were ready to pounce on him if it weren't for his dark aura which surrounded him.

It had only been a week since she laid eyes on Derek yet it seemed like a lifetime, and somehow Saera felt that he might have grown even more drop-dead gorgeous over the time.

His messy strawberry blonde hair, Eyes a shade of golden which was something bizzarre, The way he walked as if floating in mid-air, his god perfect mascular body, the different expressions he showed her, the rare smiles and even his hot dressing styles, she had missed them all so much over the week which had passed. Just catching a glimpse of them all made her weak at the knees. She was completely stunned by his beauty like how she had the first time she had seen him on the first day of school.

Wait... Is this really me? since when have I paid so much attention to a guy? why am I having this sick feeling? Is... Is he compelling me? Crap. there's no such thing as compulsion! Saera shook her head furiously to get a hold of her thoughts. She took a step towrds him when she saw someone pass right past her and bang onto Derek, more like cling onto him as if begging for dear life. Saera stood where she was dumbfound. Is he a highschool student? its a crime to even let him in. Someone drag him back to elementary please!

Usually Derek would have lost patience, snapped and yelled at Kevin for being so annoying but this time he just remained untroubled. He didn't even bother to push Kevin's hand away.

"Where the hell have you been all these days? You just dissapeared and never came back! Damn atleast exchange phone numbers with me so I could contact you if anything comes up." Kevin cried out in annoyance. It was obvious he had been completely worried.

A smile touched Derek's lips. "And lose the little freedom I have at home from you? no chance." Kevin gritted his teeth trying very hard to think of something to counter what Derek had said but failed miserably. Kevin raised his hand in surrender. "You win dude."

Saera couldn't help but smile at the two guys in front of her. It was just as how it had been but one thing seemed to have changed which made her slightly uneasy. He never even once looked her way. Is he avoiding me?why?

Saera took the initiative to talk to him after all he was not the outspoken type. She couldn't wait any longer in silence.

"Hi Derek. been a while." She stood right in front of him but then he walked right past her without another word as if she was not there at all. Saera was more than just surprised. In the past it was always Derek who had made an attempt to talk to her, so now why did his attitude towards her change?

"We're going to be late for class." saying so he walked away from Kevin and Saera and dissapeared around the corner.

Kevin turned around to look at Saera. He was utterly confused. One minute the mysterious guy is obsessed over the newbie hottie Saera Forbes and the next minute he acts as if she never existed. He could only give her an apologetic look before running after Derek and was clear out of sight as soon as he entered the classroom. Saera just stood dazed in the hallway, the bell blaring loud above her warning her to get to class quickly. She couldn't move still trying to figure out what had just happened.
