Jackie's POV

"It's time, Jackie. Come with me."

Azrael reaches out a hand for me to grab, and I don't flinch or pull away as I normally would.

Instead, I grab it and let him guide me towards him. Taller than me, he leans his head down to where his forehead rests on mine.

"You are ready," he says, so proudly. "Show them what it means to be my Shadow."

He looks down at me, his face a mix of satisfaction and longing. Before long he pulls away, only to grab my arms and look me straight in the eyes.

"There will be twenty. Twenty of my greatest Chimeras. Only at their fall will you become what you've always been destined to be."

Our surroundings begin to fade into a subtle grey, then into a black so dark I can't see.

All goes silent, save for one voice.

"With their fall, you will rise."

I splutter awake, coughs coming from deep within my chest. My body shivers, and fatigue washes over me like an ocean wave.

"Dean," I say in barely a whisper. I shift to my side, only to find that the soft mattress underneath me had been replaced with what feels like a concrete surface, and my hand is now empty.

I slowly sit up, my back stiff with aches due to the cold. I wrap my arms up into my jacket, the jacket I don't remember putting on. Too dark to see a single thing, I set my hands on my legs, feeling myself dressed in my jeans. My feet, too, are covered in my usual boots.

"Dean? Sam?" I say into the darkness, my throat hoarse for some reason. Getting no answer, I begin to worry. With my heartbeat picking up, my mind trails back to the last time I took a stroll through the night. I had almost killed myself. I shot Sam.

What did I do this time?

My breathing picks up, and soon I'm hyperventilating. My lungs don't get the air I need, and suddenly, the coldness surrounding me has little effect against my warm body. This can't be happening. I'm just dreaming.
