I had rushed to Mystic Falls so quickly that I hadn't arranged where I would stay. Niklaus hated me, and I'm sure Caroline would've been fine but I wasn't sure her mother would be a fan of having two vampires under the roof. I sighed knowing I only had one other alternative.

It was the start of the 1980s and I was in New York, still on the run from Niklaus. I was living with my friend Katerina in a dingy two-bedroom apartment downtown. I had met her a while back, we were both on the run from Klaus and decided to stay in contact, trade tips. A very dysfunctional type of friend. Eventually we both found ourselves in New York and moved in together. However, the key difference between Katherine and I was that she was much better at running than I was. She knew not to stay in one place for too long, especially when you caused as much havoc as she did. But I had come to like New York and I was tired of running. I decided to enjoy living in New York and make a home here and if Klaus found me, then so be it. At least if I was in a box, I could finally live a life free of paranoia. But Katerina was a trooper, she wasn't ready to give in to my husband just yet. So she did what she does best- she ran.

"Well Fi, I guess this is it. If you ever decide you want to run again, and Klaus doesn't get to you first, you know where I am" She said hugging me tightly.

"You and I both know that there is no one on this planet more elusive than you are" I said winking at her and she laughed at me.

"Well at least try and find me" She gave me a kiss on the cheek and with that she sped off never to be seen again.

I went up to my room and started to write. I had been working on this book my whole life, it was based on my life and everything that had happened to me so far. I had made a lot of progress until I was interrupted by a loud and incessant banging on the door.

"KATHERINE" He screamed. I huffed and walked down the stairs ready to chase off one of Katerina's many suitors. Of course the minute she left was when someone decided they wanted to chase after her.

I opened the door and saw what can only be described as an Adonis in a tight, fitted black t-shirt and blue jeans. I immediately regretted opening the door in my lacklustre sweats, although if he was looking for Katerina, it was probably for the best. His dark hair was ruffled and his icy blue eyes were awry with frustration, Katerina had obviously done something very bad to him.

"I'm sorry, but who is this Katherine you speak of?" I said, feigning innocence.

"I know she's in here. I-I saw her" He said, barging past me."Don't worry complete stranger, just storm right into my house and search for a person that does not exist."

"Where is she?" He sneered. He was getting angrier; she must have really done a number on him.

"Look, whoever you are, I'm the only one that lives here and I don't- "

"Cut the crap" He said defiantly, he was beginning to get on my nerves. "I know that you're a vampire, because I wouldn't be let inside otherwise. I saw her here, so tell me what you know. I am not someone you want to piss off."

I scoffed and throttled him against the wall. "Alright Einstein, I knew her once upon a time but last time I checked she was dead. I don't know who you are but don't you ever threaten me again because the next time you do I will stick a stake so deep through your heart you will wish you never met Katherine, let alone me."
