Kage hated him.

Okay, hate was a strong word for it, but Rogue kept using it. You would hit him each time and swear Kage loved him, but then Kage would only be around you. And only you. There was a mother complex somewhere in there, but you chose to ignore it and just love your baby and his attachment issues.

Yes, of course Kage would be chill around Rogue and love his daddy just like any son, but then you would come along and he'd turn into such a mama's boy. He would cuddle into you and cry every time you had to put him down, even if it was only for a second. When Rogue picked him up to calm his crying, he'd only cry more and then that was when Rogue would give him to you. Then Rogue would go slump in a corner of shadows for a while. Hikari would try to cheer up her daddy along with Frosch helping, but it only worked part of the time. He'd turn to mush whenever they gave him a flower or a butterfly and frog drawing. Other times he would just cry like the big soft daddy he was.

But right now... poor Rogue was lying face down on the couch with an aura of shadows and darkness surrounding him. Frosch was actually decorating him with flowers and Hikari was crawling all over his back, pulling his hair and practicing her "braids". Kage was nuzzled against your breasts while sleeping soundly.

Maybe Kage didn't have a mother complex. Maybe he just really liked boobs. Like father like son right?

Just minutes before, Rogue was trying to feed Kage a spoonful of scrambled eggs made by him. It was going pretty well since Kage was half asleep, but then you came in and he woke right up. He reached out to you and cried, "Mama!"

And then Rogue lost it. He dropped the spoon and let his head fall onto the table's surface. "I don't get it... I'm supposed to be his dad right? Why doesn't he love me as much as he loves you?" Rogue sobbed.

"Rogue he loves you! He loves us both equally." You defend for him, but it only breaks his heart THAT much more.

"Kage, do you love daddy?" You ask baby Kage. Kage nods vigorously with bright eyes. "See! He adores you Rogue!"

"Kage, who do you love more? Me or mommy?" Rogue asks him with a sour voice and a melancholy attitude.

Kage throws up his arms. "'Mama!"

And that is how Rogue got to the couch.

"I don't get it. I'm his dad. We're supposed to be best buddies and he doesn't even want to spend time with me." Rogue was across the table from you and Kage while Hikari was running around the guild. She's gotten used to running, so she doesn't face plant as much. Rogue especially helped with that. He had a whole lesson on how to run with Hikari. That, and a lesson on dressing herself with something other than underwear and food; something you helped with. Now she's used to wearing big shirts and shorts with the small exception of cute dresses. All while not tripping on her own two feet.

"Rogue, you do have Hikari. Ya know. Your other child." Your narrow eyes do nothing to intimidate him. All he was worried about was his first born son accepting him.

Rogue takes a drink of whatever the hell he was drinking and flips a page in the newspaper he was reading. "I know, but my own son doesn't love me."

You groan and stand in your spot, walking over to Rogue and setting your son in his lap. "You're watching Kage, and I'm going to the supermarket with Hikari." You kiss Rogue's head even with the attitude and head for the door. "And I swear to god, if you leave him with Sting, I will make sure Kage ends up calling him daddy for the rest of his life." Your demon mother eyes kick in and scare the crap out of everyone around you. You just had that gut feeling that as soon as Kage cried, Rogue would whine and give him to someone else. So this threat helped.
