Chapter 26 - My Eternal Love

"Hmmmm..."

"What are you thinking?"

"Maybeee thiiis oneee?"

"No."

"Hoooowww abooout... this one?"

"That's definitely not going to happen."

"But--"

"No. I don't want you showing your body to other men."

"Ughgh, fine!"

You and Rogue were at the request board in the guild, trying to find a job that the two of you could do alone. You did offer to take the modeling job for the cover of Sorcerer Weekly with Justin, but obviously Rogue wasn't up for that.

Frosch said that he wanted to try a job with Lector for once. Apparently there's this nice lady in town who needed her house taken care of while she was out. Frosch and Lector were more than happy to help her out, especially with the reward involved. Can't go wrong with chocolate chip cookies and milk as a reward.

"What about this one?" You grab an interesting one that you hope he'll like.

He takes it from your hand and starts reading it out loud. "Looking for wizards to defeat a serpent living in the nearby shores."

"This one seems good right?" You ask him with hope.

He stares at you with melancholy-like eyes. "Motion sickness."

You sigh and pin the job back on the board to look around for more. "How about this?" You were starting to lose hope in this. If you couldn't do this one last job, you were going to go home and sleep.

Rogue looks over the job and shrugs. "Sure, and look." He smirked, scaring you a bit.

You take the paper and look over it. "Find a healing plant deep in the town's nearby forest. The reward is 10,000 jewels." You shrug. "Sounds easy enough, it has an okay reward too."

"And it's pretty far away. That means we'll have to stay in a hotel for a night." He was wearing a huge smirk while you held a bright blush.

"Uh..." You were speechless when he wouldn't stop smirking with those red eye playing a key part in this. Anything he seemed to do now a days made you swoon.

"Well, we should tell Sting that we're gonna take it." Rogue takes the job from your hands and slides his arm around your waist.

"Hey, hold on a se-" Rogue brings you to a quick kiss and lets go.

"Wait here, I'm gonna go tell Sting." Rogue goes to talk to the blonde, leaving you covering your mouth and loving the memory of that swift kiss.

You were watching them talk until you got lost in thought. Hana had been bugging you for a while. She was out on a really long job that took about five weeks. It was only the second week, but you were still bothered. She took it the day after you two talked. Even though Sting, Yukino, Orga, and Rufus heard you guys, they still think that Hana's pretty okay. It must have been the new guild attitude to make them giver her a second chance.

"Ready?" Rogue broke you from your thoughts with that fang-carved smile of his. "Are you okay?"

You smile. "Yeah, I'm fine. We should get going." You pull him out of the guild with that smile hoping he wouldn't sense any signs of distress.

You've wanted to go on a mission with Rogue for a while now. You only wanted it to be the two of you and no one else. You could tell that Rogue has wanted that too, only his ideas were a bit different from yours. Not sure if it was in a good way or a bad way.
