Cora's P.O.V

The next morning, we set off from Rivendell. I was walking alongside Thorin again.

He was watching me, and I just didn't turn to look at him.

"Good morning, Cora." he said.

"Good morning, Thorin." I replied.

"Sleep well?"

"Kinda. You?"

"Same."

Then there was silence.

"Thorin?" I asked.

"Yes?" he asked, still watching me.

"Do you think Gandalf will force me to go back when the time comes?"

" I don't know. I don't think he would,  but if he tries, I won't let him. It's your choice whether you go back or not."

"Ok, thank you Thorin. "

"No problem, Cora."

More silence.

"Cora, why do your friends start whispering everytime I speak to you?" he asked.

"I don't know. They're wierd." I replied.

"Well, it's just disconcerting."

"You mean kinda like when you watch me like you're doing now?"

"Sorry."

"It's ok, I'm used to it."

Silence again.

When we set up camp, I sat on the cliff, away from everyone else. I liked to be secluded.

Thorin's P.O.V

I went over to where Cora was sitting on the cliff, and she didn't notice me because her eyes were closed as if she was trying to relax.

I sat down beside her, and put a hand on the center of her back, causing her to jump.

"Oh, Thorin! I didn't hear you coming." she exclaimed.

I slipped my arm around her waist, ignoring her shivering slightly at my touch.

"Are you ok?" I asked her, smiling at the fact I scared her again.

"I think so. I don't know. My head hurts. I'm confused. I'm tired."

"Ok."

She seemed to be really tired, and kinda out of it. She seemed disconnected from the world.

"Cora, shouldn't you get some sleep like everyone else? You seem really out of it tonight." I suggested.

"Oh... Um,  yeah. G-good night... Thorin." she replied, standing up very quickly.

She went over to her roll, which was positioned about ten feet from the cliff where we were sitting.

She fell asleep facing me, and she looked like she was finally relaxing.

I decided to change the bandage on her side before turning in.

I moved my roll close to hers, and I put my arms around her waist to pull her closer.

I pulled her over to me, and her head ended up on my chest. I kissed her forehead before I fell asleep, finally content that she was at least temporarily ok.

Cora's P.O.V

The next morning, I was the first one up. I realized that Thorin's arm was around my waist, my head on his chest, and his cloak over both of us.

I know I didn't fall asleep like this. I may have been tired, but I wasn't that tired.

Slowly and gently, as so not to wake Thorin up, I stood up. And I instantly regretted it. It was very early in the morning, so it was also very cold. I just grabbed my jacket and went to the cliff, since lighting a fire could attract orcs.

I wasn't expecting Thorin to come up behind me, because I thought he was still asleep. He put an arm around me, and I felt the warmth coming back into my body.

Thorin's P.O.V

"You really need to stop that." Cora said softy.

"Maybe you should be more observant. I was awake when you got up. If it's so cold, why didn't you just lie back down?" I grinned.

"Why did you do that last night?"

"Why did I do what?" I asked, pretending to have no idea what she was talking about.

"Pull me over to you after I was asleep, put your arms around my waist, and put my head on your chest."

"I don't know."

"Not a good enough answer. You realise that I still don't like people touching me, right?"

"I'm sorry, Cora." I quickly removed my arm from around here, and I wish I could've kept it there. She relaxed after that.

"It's ok, Thorin. You probably just wanted to make sure I was ok... Right?"

"Um... Yeah."

"God it's cold right now."

"Here." I took off my cloak and draped it over her shoulders.

"No, you need it more than I do."

She tried to give me back my cloak, but I turned to face her and put my hands on her shoulders.

"I'm not cold. I don't need it." I told her.

"Are you sure?" She turned to face me, and we locked eyes. Her bright blue eyes were shining in the light from the sunrise, and without realizing it, I stared at her for a while, until she snapped me back to reality, because I had been daydreaming about what would happen after we reclaim Arebor.

"Thorin?" she said, startling me.

"What did you ask again?" I questioned.

"Are you sure you don't mind giving me your cloak?"

"Why would I mind? I don't need it."

By this time, the sun was halfway up, so it was time to wake the others.

"Come on, we need to wake the others." I told her, standing, and taking her hand to help her up.

"Thank you." she replied, just then standing up and turning to face me.

I couldn't fight the urge any longer, because our eyes met again. I slipped my arms around her waist and kissed her.

She kind of just stood there and let it happen, without responding.

When I finally pulled away, she blushed, gave me a confused look, and left quickly to wake up her friends.

Cora's P.O.V

Why did he do that?

When we set off later that day, I was conscious of everyone watching me. Thorin was smirking at me, and I was suddenly aware of the fact that I was still wearing Thorin's cloak.

I felt my cheeks growing hot as I walked up to Thorin and handed him his cloak back.

"Thanks," I mumbled. He just gave me a crooked grin, causing me to blush more, because the rest of the dwarves, Missy, and Austin were laughing now too.

I went to the back of the group, avoiding everyone. It had been a very awkward morning for me, and Thorin just kept making it worse. How the hell could he have fallen for me? I mean, has he looked at my face lately?
