Cora's P.O.V

When I got back to Erebor with Bilbo, Thorin wasn't expecting us. I had only been gone a week.

I found him in my kitchen with Dain,  and Thorin didn't know I was there.

I slowly crept up behind him, motioning for Dain to be quiet about it.

I found a convenient glass of water on the counter, and I gave in to the temptation. I dumped it on his head, causing him to jump.

"You've only been gone a week!" he exclaimed, slipping his arms around my waist and pulling me in for a hug.

"Well, Bilbo said he was fine with not staying there long, and he hasn't quite agreed to being best man yet, because he wants to talk to you first." I said.

"Well, where is he?"

"He headed up to his room in the royal quarters. He wanted to wait for you there."

Thorin left, and there was an awkward silence between Dain and I.

"So." I said.

"So you're going to be queen." he stated.

"Yep."

Silence.

Suddenly, he got up and walked over to me.

"Thorin is a very lucky man. You are quite beautiful." he said.

"Th-thanks."

More silence, and we just stood there looking at each other.

Suddenly, he embraced me in a crushing hug.

"Welcome to the family!" he exclaimed.

"Dain... I... can't... breathe..." I gasped.

"Sorry," he grinned, letting go.

I panted as I tried to catch my breath,  and he left, laughing.

About an hour later, Thorin came back. I had just finished my lunch, and was planning on going to the river, but since he came, I changed my mind.

I was standing against the wall, and he stood in front of me, taking my hands in his.

"I'm glad your back, even though you weren't gone long." he said quietly.

"So am I." I replied softly.

He kissed me more passionately than before, and pushed me against the wall once again. He had his hands on me waist, and one of my hands was on his chest.

He pulled back, and gave me a crooked grin.

"I was half expecting you to do that earlier when you first saw me." I whispered.

"But Dain was watching." he replied.

"And?" I asked softly.

"He would tell us to get a room." he whispered in my ear.

"So? This is my house."

"Point taken."

He kissed me again, and this time it lasted a good 5 minutes.
