The Trolls

Cora's P.O.V

The next morning when I woke up, I was the first one awake... Or, at least, that's what it looked like. I went back to the cliff wh Thorin and I talked last night.

It seemed strange that he could never point out my faults, but he could always point it out when someone else messed up.

And the fact that he wouldn't mind me talking to him all day? How was I supposed to react?

And then last night, he put his arm around me, and sparks shot through my body.

It was all very strange, and it could only mean one thing... And I didn't want to admit it, because admitting it would be admitting weakness.

It was still rather dark out, so in one of my routine check of the camp so no one could sneak up behind me, I must have missed Thorin.

He came up and sat beside me, causing me to jump.

"Why are you up so early?" he asked.

Thorin's P.O.V

"Why are you?" she challenged.

That's one of the many things I liked about her. She's very competitive. She's also self confident, not enough to be arrogant, but enough for her to act freely without worrying about others. She was also shy, so that's really contradicting.

"Checking on you. You haven't been talking to your friends as much." I replied.

"I'm fine."

She didn't sound fine. I cupped her face in my hand, and the sparks started again.

"Why are you lying?"

"I don't know. I don't know if I'm ok. My head is spinning, and I have way too many things going through my head."

"Do you want to talk?"

"I don't know."

"Ok."

I set my hand on hers, and we just sat on that cliff for a while.

She seemed to be drawing in the dust by the cliff.

"Why don't we go start your sword lessons?" I suggested.

"Ok." she replied, jumping up.

Missy's P.O.V

Well, an hour after Thorin and Cora finished the sword fighting lessons, we had breakfast, and were back on our way.

Cora's P.O.V

Now that I knew for sure how to use a sword, I'd be of more use to the group.

I was riding alongside Thorin, and I could feel him watching me. He seemed to be doing that a lot lately. It was strange, and just unnerving.

"Thorin, how are we going to kill the dragon?" I asked suddenly, surprising even me.

"I don't know. I've been asking myself the same thing. I guess Gandalf will help us. He should know how. If we're lucky, Smaug is already dead." he replied thoughtfully. He was still watching me. I could tell.

"Ok."

"Are you ok?"

"I'm fine, why?"

"You're acting a bit strange. It could just be me though."

We rode on in silence. He continued to watch me.

"Thorin?"

"Yeah?"
