Marshall's POV

I pulled into the driveway and me and Angel got out the truck. We walked to the porch and I knocked interlocking my arms with Angel. The letter in my back pocket and flowers in my left hand. I breathed in the cold fucking air. Finally, the door creaked open and my mother looked at me shocked. I nearly cried on the spot. She was so small, so tiny.

"Hey momma." I said my voice cracked and Angel let me go and so I hugged my mother. I heard her crying and felt warm tears on my jacket. I sniffled and she let me and Angel in. Angel must have had a little shock in her because she didn't say anything.

"Marshall before we talk can you introduce me to your friend." She asked and I sniffled and nodded.

"Momma, this is Angel. She's my fiancée and the mother of my little boys Brandon and Mario." Momma just smiled and wiped her eyes. She walked to Angel and Angel hugged her.

"It's so nice to meet you, Debbie." Angel said and shook her hand.

"Oh Marshall she's wonderful." my mother said.

"Thanks Ma." I said and Angel sat down on the couch with me and I talked to my mom.

15 Minutes Later

"I went in on you Momma, I never thought about who what I said hurt but, as stubborn as we are I took it too far. But regardless I don't hate you 'cause, Ma, You're still beautiful to me, 'cause you're my mom. When I realized you were sick and it wasn't fixable or changeable and to this day we remained estranged and I hate it though cause you ain't even get to witness your grand babies grow but I'm sorry, Mama, for  what I said at the time I was angry. Rightfully maybe so, never meant that far to take it though.Because now I know it's not your fault, and I'm not making jokes. That song I no longer play at shows and I cringe every time it's on the radio. And although one has met their grandma once. You pulled up in our drive one night as we were leaving to get some hamburgers. Me, her and Nate, we introduced you, hugged you and as you left I had this overwhelming sadness come over me. As we pulled off to go our separate paths, and I saw your headlights as I looked back
And I'm mad I didn't get the chance to thank you for being my Mom and my Dad. So, Mom, please accept this as a tribute. I guess I had to get this off my chest." I looked up from the letter and she and Angel were in tears. We hugged and I invited her to Grandma Betty's and me and Angel left.

Thanksgiving Day

Angel's POV

"Oh, I got a man that's always late
Any time we have a date
But I love him
Yes I love him-" Me and Marshall were doing a duet of the Is You Is song from Tom and Jerry and his mother, grandmother, and the kids were watching.

"So I'm gonna walk up to her gate
See if we can get it straight
Cause I want her
Yeah I intend to have her
I'll just ask her-" Marshall smiled at me and I laughed.

"Is you is or is you ain't my baby
Well, the way you're acting lately, well it makes me doubt
You were still my baby, baby
But it seems like my flame in your heart, well it's just gone out!" We sang and everybody cheered. We wrapped it up and then we got dressed in some overalls and I braided my hair tightly in a bun and then we walked to the stables. We cleaned up the horses and fed them before hopping on them and riding around.

"We should apply for a marriage license when we get back." He said and I smiled.

"Yeah, I was thinking we could get married on the 12st."

"Okay what do you want?"

"I want to get married at the house, blue-green theme, spotlights in the room nobody ever uses. Fuckin' huge. I want Katy Perry and Rihanna and Pink there. Devin's parents, friends, your family of course, we could go out to eat afterward."

"I could do that." He said and I smiled.

"You sure?"

"Positive." He said and we rode back to the stable and walked to the shed. He locked the door and we laid down on the bed in there. We talked for two hours and went inside.

4 Days Later

November 28.2012

We had to head home like in two hours because, he had a studio session booked for tonight. We walked back into the house and told the kids to take a shower and get in some PJ's. Me and Marshall had to shower together because when the kids finished it was literally 20 minutes for packing and 10 for showering and we really didn't have time for separate showers. I stood directly under the water and laid my head on his chest and he lathered down in soap swiftly and we cleaned off and he kissed me before turning off the warm water and we dried off before getting dressed. I stuffed the dirty clothes in the plastic bag and placed it in a duffel bag. The kids were done and everyone was saying goodbye. I liked his family. But, I had a stop I had to make. I said my goodbyes and hugged and kissed everybody before running two blocks to Devin's parents house. I grabbed the key from under the mat and unlocked the door and walked into the living room and they looked at me.

"Yo-"

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I was on drugs I wasn't in control of my actions. I'm so sorry. I was so young and so broken. I'm so sorry please give me another chance. I'm getting married next month and it would mean the world to me if you attended on a clean slate." I said and they stood up and hugged me.

"You need me to walk you down the ale?" He asked and I smiled tears pouring.

"Yes, please." I said and we talked briefly before the toot of a horn called out to me.

"I have to go." I said saddened.

"It's okay. Clean slate." They said and I ran to the tour bus and hopped on.

2 Hours Later

"When did Kim and baby boy leave?"

"When we announced the engagement." He said and I sighed.

"Why does she have to be like that?"

"I don't know but, you sure did leave a lasting impression on Grandma Betty."

"Did I?"

"Oh that woman is just so beautiful and she gives to licks about you and your babies. She loves you, you oughta marry her because Kim was a nightmare." He said chuckling about his grandmother's accent.

"That's weird. I really thought they were going to hate me."

"Babe, she said when you first walked in she didn't like you and then she saw you taking care of the horses and that you can cook- you got her babe."

"What about your mom."

"She's prettier than that son of a bitch woman you married once before. If She had a brain, she'd be dangerous." He chuckled and I smiled. I felt sleep creeping on me so, I walked to a bunk and closed the curtain and fell asleep.

Dream Sequence

Hurt me to see the pain across my mother's face, every time my father's fist would put her in her place. Well that's how he constantly put it. Hearing all the yelling I would cry up in my room hoping it would be over soon.

"Bruises fade Daddy, but the pain remains the same and I still remember how you kept me so afraid."  Every morning that I wake I look back to yesterday and I'm okay.

I woke up and tears ran like cross-country down my face. I dared to make a sound. I just sucked it up and wiped my face. I climbed down the bunk and walked to the seat next to Marshall. He held my hand and I fell asleep calmly. Just freaked out a bit.
