Chapter 2

Barry POV

I raced through the city searching for someone or something that might need my help. I felt it was my job to help those who couldn't. I had received this amazing gift and I needed to use it in a way that was good.

I couldn't help but think about the man from last night. I was just a few seconds late and now he was dead. The thing that had me thinking was who was the woman that had killed him. She wore a black suit and the mask she had covered her face so there was no way for me to identify her. I tried to follow her as soon as I could get back on my feet. The gas she had released was strong. I could hardly breathe and I felt my body become a little numb for a little while.

"Robbery in progress on 7th street" Cisco says through the headpiece

I turned from the direction I was going and ran the other way. I made another turn down the street and I was there. I quickly ran to the man with the gun and knocked him out.

"We can do this the easy way or the hard way" I say to the other men who still stood

One of the men that was closer to me quickly ran to me to try and fight me but failed. The man was on the floor in one blink. The other men looked at me and put their weapons down immediately. I could hear the sirens getting louder and soon  enough I could hear the cars screeched to a stop. I soon left when the cops were rushing inside the building to arrest the men that the flash had stopped. I ran back to star labs seeing everything else was going well. Changing into my normal clothes I walked into the room hearing Caitlin and Cisco talking about when they were younger.

"I would like to go back to show my bully she can't mess with me" Cisco says staring off

"She?" I ask joining the conversation

"I know..." Cisco says looking down and shrugging his shoulders changing the subject

"So the man murdered last night was Tom Martin, not much on him from the past few years it's as if he disappeared before that he had a family who died in an explosion" Cisco says "this girl though just disappeared. I couldn't find her in any of the city's cameras."

"We need to find her" I tell them "What if she kills someone else it's up to us to bring her in"

"I looked at the street cameras around there and nothing it's as if she just vanished" Caitlin says

"People don't just vanish" Cisco says "unless she's meta... or ninja" he smiles more to himself

"Well let me know when you find something I have to go into the lab" I say

"You got it" Cisco says

I said goodbye to both of them and quickly left for the station.

Walking into the station I looked at the detectives as their loved ones brought them meals. I watched as they looked into each other's eyes with love. I stood in the middle of the room hearing them laughing together. I looked around, finally seeing Joe at his desk. He nods at me and I smile in return. I walked up to my lab and put my jacket on the chair. This was my life and I wouldn't change it for anything. I loved being the flash even if I had to hide the biggest secret from everyone I cared about.

My thoughts wandered back to the couples downstairs. They knew everything about each other and I couldn't help but to think about if and when I had someone. If I ever did I would have to keep this secret from her for her safety as well. For over a year I have risked my life not caring what would happen to me because this was my destiny. I never thought about the people I loved. Just like the detectives downstairs they risked their lives everyday knowing their families were waiting for them to go home.

I looked out into the wide window that overlooked the city. I looked out into the view and just waited for someone to need me. This was my routine: Just waiting to help someone. Just then my phone beeped. I looked at the notification and saw it was from Cisco.

I quickly put my flash suit on and raced to the person who needed me. I could hear Cisco from the headset inside the suit. I could feel the wind brush past my face. The way I moved so fast made me feel alive. When I finally got to the building on fire I looked at my surroundings and rushed inside bringing the people stuck inside to the outside. When I was finally out with the last person in my arms I set her down and raced away.

"Car chase down the street" Cisco says

"Got it" I say running to the chase

I ran to a stop and saw the car speed past me with police cars racing behind them. Gunshot rang through the air from the person being chased to the cop cars following behind them. Quickly I ran into the car being chased into the back seat and easily took out the passenger. Once he was out cold I turned to the driver as he looked from the road and back to me repeatedly

"Flash!" He yells in anger

I quickly grab the wheel and punch the man in the face. When the car finally came to a full stop the cops rushed out of their cars. I ran to grab both men and ran them inside the cops car.

"Thank you flash" the officer says smiling

"That's what I'm here for" I say and run off

When I finally came to a stop I looked to see I was in the same alley from last night where the man had been killed. For being a speedster I had been too slow and now he was dead. All I could think about was who this woman was? Why would she kill him? But most importantly would I get her before she kills anyone else.

I saw the yellow tape just outside the alley and the markings on the floor where the body was. I had to be faster, I had to get faster before this happened again. With no one else needing me right now I returned back to my lab changing back into my normal clothes to at least get some work done.
