Chapter 15

Lana

We spent the day lounging around the loft. Josh had played one movie after another. Shade roamed around the loft playing with a new toy Josh had somehow gotten her. Josh rested his head on my lap as I ran my fingers through his dark hair. I stopped when I realized he had fallen asleep. I stared down at him seeing the light eyebags he was beginning to get. I frowned wondering why he looked as if he hadn't gotten much sleep lately.

I carefully stood up and placed his head onto a pillow as I heard someone knock on the door. As I walked to open it I saw Shade quickly jump up and lay on Josh's chest. I opened the door to see Caitlin, opening the door wider for her as she walked in.

"Well well well, if it isn't the woman I've been wanting to see" I say walking after her

"I know I have a lot of explaining to do" she says

"Please do" I say sitting sitting on the kitchen chair

"I work with the flash" she states the obvious

"I saw," I say, "but what I don't know is why?"

"It's my job" she says sitting next to me "when the particle accelerator blew up it threw matter that turned the people in this city into meta humans then, we met this metahuman who could run fast enough to save people...

"He wanted to help people, he wanted us to help people. STAR labs destroyed many people's lives. We wanted to do something to help those we could. When you build something great and you lose so many people and find out you are the reason people keep getting hurt, it just made me feel worse. So I am doing what is right. I am doing what I can to make up for all the bad that I have done. It is the right thing to do." she says

"But not you" I say standing feeling frustrated "anyone but you"

"Why?" Caitlin says "so it's okay for you to risk your life but not when its me"

"Caitlin, I don't trust these meta humans or anyone else for that matter" I say "I don't want you to be in danger, damn it, I spent my whole life taking care of you making sure you didn't die"

"What?" She asks confused

"Being in the organization I kept tabs on you making sure you were safe this whole time. When we were betrayed she had someone sent here to kill you and he was so close to you the only reason why he left you alone was because I agreed to stay" I say

"You didn't tell me that" she says standing also

"Everyday I was there I was scared, wondering if that day would be my last. And everyday I made sure it wasn't your last" I say

"I'm sorry you had to go through that but I'm doing this Lana I have been doing this since day one" she says "And I'd be more than happy if you were ok with that"
