Lana

I could hardly sleep after what I found out the night before. I was already up before the sun was able to shine through the curtains that were pushed aside. Walking into the restroom I got into the shower wanting to be ready for when Josh woke up I wanted to get ready and be ready for anything to happen.

As I turned off the water and began to change I heard movement from the other side. Taking one last look in the mirror I took a deep breath and turned to open the door.

I was thankful I had the day off in case I had to spend it following Josh around to see where he would go if he wasn't willing to tell me anything. Now that I knew josh was branded i needed to find out by who and needed to find out where they were located. I knew better than to not look into that branding. I was sure they had implanted something in him and the quicker I knew what the quicker i would be able to get it out.

I watched as Josh looked out from the window looking outside. He stood still and quiet as if he wasn't all there. I knew there was an internal battle in him at this moment. I could tell he was struggling as I looked down to his shaking hands. I knew I had to take things slow to not scare him.

"You okay?" I ask him throwing him a pillow "you slept all day yesterday" I say worried

I wanted to just go and say I knew everything, but I knew he would run and then I'd lose him. He looked down at the pillow that now laid on the ground as if he was in deep thought and then looked up at me. I could see he looked confused for a moment before shaking his head.

"Lana" he says sounding off as if he was over everything

I forced myself to laugh, "The one and only, why are you so distracted?" I ask walking to the kitchen

He looked around the room and then back at me. Josh stood while I sat on the kitchen chair. I looked at him waiting for the perfect moment to say something related.

"What's going on?" I ask him again watching him carefully

He looks up from the ground quickly with a look of fear on his face, "Promise me one thing Lana, if you are ever faced with making a decision you think would hurt me. Take the shot especially if it means protecting others" he says struggling to even speak

I knew they must have brainwashed him or were most likely implanting some type of speech for him to say. But I knew him and as I watched him struggle to speak I knew he was fighting himself to give me some type of clue. And I also knew that if they were listening to him and if he said something that could lead me to them they would re awaken him into fighting me or make him go back to them.

"Ok I'm confused here. what's going on Josh" I say feeling nervous inside

He walks closer to stand in front of where I sat, "I have loved you for as long as I can remember. You are my best friend" he says holding my hand
