Chapter 38 : Secrets....

Tris's POV

"He'll tell you soon Tris",Will tells assuring me.

But what will he tell me ?

I'm so tired of secrets.

"I'm back",Four says coming towards us.He's running one hand through his hair and scratching his neck with the other.

Something is really not right.

"Are you sure everything's good ?",I ask again.

"Yes.Its perfect",Four says smiling.

But I know he's not smiling.Its only a lip curve.There's no spark in his eyes.

The spark that's usually there when he's smiling.

Boy,I'd do anything to take his phone for one minute and see who called him.

"Let's go in.We have a house right ?",Four says chucking dryly.

Everyone nods and we go in.There's an eerie silence.Like everyone can sense Four's discomfort.

When Four told me that it's killing him that I'm being distant with him.....I didn't really understand what he meant.

But now I know how it feels.

It's killing me to see Four like this.

Like something is breaking him apart.

"Yo Tris ! Pass me the ketchup please",Four says interrupting my thoughts.

I was thinking how fast Four got over whatever happened.

Is he used to this ??

Masking his emotions ? He's behaving like nothing happened.

If I hadn't seen Four's face when he saw the name on the called ID and Four's face after he was done talking to the person.....I wouldn't even know that something is wrong.

"Yeah.Sure",I say handing over the bottle to him.

He grins.And this time I know he means it.Because his eyes smile too.

I grin back.

I'm falling for him.I know.

I'm trying hard not to.Each day I remind myself that Four killed my family and I can't love him.

But my heart begs to disagree.

And you see...you can't control your heart.Your heart controls you.

Tobias's POV

I'm masking my emotions.Masking them like I always do.

And it's very difficult with Tris being here.She's the only person who can see right through the mask.

I know she knows that something's wrong.

But I'm going to tell her.....

Everything......

Tomorrow.

She's going to know who I am.

She's going to know why Tobias became Four.

And I'm going to tell her.

I catch Tris looking at me when I'm lost in my thoughts.

Great way to blow up your cover Tobias.

Bye bye mask !

I just smile at her.

Seriously Tobias ! Can't you do anything else other than smile ??

She looks at me wide eyed and I just shrug.

You are ruining this whole thing.

Ughh ! Tobias.What's wrong with you ?

Oksy time to disappear.

"Guys I'm done with dinner.I'll get changed and go to sleep",I say standing up.

"Okay.Goodnight Four",Everyone choruses.

"I'm done too",Tris says and looks at me suspiciously.

We go to the kitchen together and put our plates in the dishwasher.Then we head upstairs.None of us speaking a word.

"So...your room's here.Goodnight",I tell Tris.

"Goodnight Four",Tris says.

"Sweet dreams",I say.

Wow ! Didn't you get anything better Tobias ?

"You too",Tris says smiling.

"Okay then",I say turning to go to my room.

"Hey Four ?",Tris calls out.I turn to her.

"If there's anything bothering you....you can tell me",She says.

Oh I will tell you Tris.But not now.Not today.

"N-No.Nothing is",I lie.

Damn my habit of stuttering when I'm lying !!

"Okay.I hope you're not lying.Goodnight",She says smiling a little.

"Goodnight",I say not answering to what she said before that.

Tris kisses my cheek,waves me goodbye and goes to her room.

Leaving me dumbfounded.

Was that really Tris ??

She has been acting so different today.

My hand makes way to the spot where Tris kissed.I smile stupidly at the memory and head to my room.

I hope tomorrow is better than today !!!!
