Chapter 16 : Deal ????

Tris's POV

"What do you want to do now ?",Four asks.

I don't answer.Because I'm ignoring him.

"Uhh....Tris ? I'm talking to you",Four says.

"I know",I say but don't offer more.

"Oh come on ! I thought we were past you ignoring me",He says.

"We'll never be",I say.

I can tell he's getting annoyed.But he doesn't say anything for a long time.

Tobias's POV

All this ignoring is annoying me.

What did I ever do to Tris ?

I have to find a solution to this.

So I don't say anything for a long time.

Brainwave !

"I have a deal",I say.

"Deal ? What kind ?",Tris asks.

"Patience my friend",I say and Tris rolls her eyes at me.

"If you don't ignore me.....I'll teach you how to live",I say.

"What ?",Tris asks confused.

"You just have to stop ignoring me.And I'll teach you how to live",I say again.

"I do know how to live.Everyone who's alive does.In fact I'm living now",Tris says annoyed.

"You're not living.You're surviving.And there's a lot of difference between living and surviving",I say.

"Four....Do you know a synonym for surviving ? I do.It's living",Tris says.

Tris's POV

"It might be.But there's a difference.Surviving is what we're forced to do.Living is what we choose to.Living is finding happiness in every little thing.And enjoying life.Everyone can survive,Tris.Only a few can live",Four says.

I still don't get what he's trying to say.

"So according to you....I'm not living.I'm dead ?",I ask.

"Not dead.You're surviving",He says.

I've never wanted to kill him more than I do now.

He's confusing me so much.

"I still don't get it",I say.

"Are you enjoying life ? Or just breathing ?",He asks.

I don't answer that.

But I know the answer.

It's the second one.

The moment my family died......I stopped living.

Surviving....is what I do everyday.

"Deal ?",Four asks stretching his hand out for a hand shake.

I look at his outstretched hand and contemplate my options.

Maybe I might learn something ?

"Come on Tris ! My arm's hurting",He says and I look at him.

"What do you have to lose ?",He asks.

"Nothing",I say and offer my hand for the handshake.

"Deal",I say.

"You can't ignore me now",He says and I nod.

"Sadly",I say.

"You can hate me though",He says and I look at him confused.

"I know you hate me,Tris.I just don't know why.Sometimes I feel like you don't hate me.Other times it's like...you hate me so much,you want to kill me",He says and I look at him shocked.

THAT.IS.SO.TRUE !!!!!!!!!!!!

He definitely has an eye for detail.

"According to the deal....you just can't ignore me",He says.

"You're okay with me hating you ?",I ask.I don't think any girl has told him before that she hates him.

Because he's....so....umm....attractive.

"I can force you to not ignore me but I won't force you to like me",He says.

"Okay",I say.

Tobias's POV

I know Tris hates me.

Maybe.....she has some preconceived notion about me.

But I'm going to change that.

If not her hate to love.....definitely her hate to like.

And I know I can do so.
