Chapter 4

Jen POV

It's Saturday today aka homecoming. I have till 5 pm to get ready because the dance starts at 6.

It's currently 1pm , I am having brunch with Mary and my mom and then at 2 I will go home and start getting ready.

"So Jen, do you have a crush on anyone right now?" Mom asks curiously

"No" I state with no emotion in my voice

"Really? No one?" she asks again

"Nope. They are all idiots" I tell her

"What about that Josh guy who came to your party?"

"What! No!" I exclaim

"Why not?"

"Because...because..." I start thinking of an answer

"He has a girlfriend" Mary speaks up, saving my ass again

"Y-yeah" I say

"Oh...well that's a shame" my mom says

"Yeah...well if we want to make your salon appointment we have to get to your house and get you dressed" Mary says

"Let's go" A small smile playing on my lips

We leave the restaurant then head to my house. 

"Jen go upstairs and take a shower" mom says

"But I showered in the morning"

"Yeah I know, but you need to look fresh so take a shower again hun" she tells me

I go to the bathroom and take a shower. I let the water run on my body thinking about how much of a fearful night this might be. I get out of the bathroom with a towel around my body and my hair in a turban. I make my way to my
room where my mom has laid the clothes out for me.

I change into them, it's the outfit my parents got me for my birthday. I don't do my hair or makeup because we are going to do all that at the salon. I put on the necklace Mary gave me on my birthday and a rose gold ring. Finally, I pair the outfit with the shoes Ben gave me on my birthday. I decided on not wearing my glasses today because it will not look good on this outfit.

Once I have looked at myself in the mirror I walk downstairs to where my family is in the living room.

"Wow Jen you look beautiful even without the makeup" Mom smiles

"Thanks mom"

"You look amazing bud" dad tells me

"Thank you"

I get more compliments from my family and Mary then we head to the salon.

"Hi, I am here for an appointment I made for my daughter" my mom tells the lady behind the desk

"Ok, name?" she asks

"Jennifer Lawrence"

"Yes, we do have an appointment...we are ready for you please come this way" the lady says and leads me to dressing table

"Let's get started" the stylist says

For about an hour I sit there with makeup being thrown on my face and people doing all kinds of weird stuff to my hair.

When the are done I finally get to see the final product. I look different, pretty almost. My hair is in two fishtail braids which connect in the back. I have little makeup on my face but the eyeshadow is really standing out even though it's really soft.
