Chapter 24

"before you go (please don't go) turn the big light off" -i like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it

Jen POV

Today is Valentine's Day, and it's Josh and I's first Valentine's Day. I am so excited! I dressed differently today, revealing a little bit more of myself. I did it for Josh.

I am currently walking to Josh's house, a huge grin covering my face. I finally get to his door, and knock. Chris, Josh's father, opens it.

"Hey Jen!" Chris smiles

"Hi Chris" I smile back, "Is Josh home?"

"No, I'm sorry honey, he left early. He said he had to do something in school" Chris says

"Oh" I furrow my eyebrows, "Alright, I guess I'll see him there"

"Okay. Bye Jen. Happy Valentine's Day" Chris smiles

"Happy Valentine's Day" I smile back, then start walking back to my house.

I get to my house, then get in my car. I start driving to school. I am confused as to why Josh left early, it's Valentine's Day.

Soon, I arrive at school and park my car. I walk inside and immediately go to my locker. I try to call Josh but he doesn't pick up, so I decided to text him.

"Hey, Where are you?" I text. But I get no reply back so I put my phone back in my pocket.

I get my books out of my locker and there is still no sign of Josh. I look around and see couples either kissing, or giving each other gifts, or hugging. I sigh and shut my locker, then make my way to my first period.

Once I get there I expect to see Josh, but he isn't here. The grin fades off my face, and I take my seat. I expect Josh to come to class late, but again I was disappointed when he didn't show up.

Different scenarios started playing in my head. Did he ditch me? Did he want to break up? Does he not love me anymore? All of these thoughts end when the class bell rings and the class ends.

I call Josh again, but he doesn't pick up. He doesn't reply to my text either. After the second period I head to my locker to get my food out, and keep my books when I turn around. I spot Josh. He looks at me, holding roses and smiles. I smile back, he waves at me and I blush.

I start making my way towards him when a mob of girls push me out of the way, and surround Josh. Josh looks above them towards me, trying to get out of there.

"Alright girls, okay, let me just push through" Josh speaks, but no one is listening. They keep surrounding him. "Ladies-"

He looks at me one more time, he isn't going to get out of this easily. I sigh, and walk away making my way to the back of the school.

"Jen! Jennifer!" I hear Josh call, but it is soon drowned by the voices of the girls, and I keep walking.

I head to the back of the school, and sit down against a tree, secretly wishing that Josh would find me here and talk to me. But that's not what happens. Josh doesn't show up, instead his friends do.

"Oh look, it's Josh's dorky girlfriend" Jena spits, laughing bitterly.

"What's wrong? Did he dump you, finally?" Sam barks

"N-no" I speak.

"Then where is he? Ditched you on Valentine's Day?" Liam questions

"He's h-here, h-he's c-coming" I speak softly, but I am not so sure myself.
