Jen POV

Today my parents have invited the Hutchersons over, since they haven't actually met the family. They are coming over to have dinner, which I am really nervous about. Josh, of course, is coming with them his family seems really nice but I don't know about him.

I got home from school, Josh was still helping at the library in lunch. He made small talk but I didn't really pay attention. I was bullied again by his friends but he doesn't know.

I wear a formal black dress, with some jewellery and black flats. I curl my hair slightly leaving it natural a little bit.

After I am done getting ready I rush downstairs.

"Hey mom" I say

"Hey Jenny, you look very pretty" she smiles

"Thanks" I smile, "Need any help?"

"No hun, I think I am good"

"Alright, if you need anything I will be in my room" I tell her

"Alright honey"

I run upstairs to my room then jump on my bed. I have been dying to read this book called 'The Hunger Games' so I got started on that after putting on my glasses.

I check the time on my phone and it says 6pm. They should be here any minute now, I have been reading for an hour. On cue, I hear the doorbell ring, THEY ARE HERE! YAAAAY! (Note the sarcasm)

I stay in my room until my mom calls me downstairs.

"Jen! Come on down honey" she calls out

"Coming" I yell back

Here goes nothing.

Josh POV

"Coming" I hear her yell back

Then heavy footsteps follow down the stairs and soon Jen appears. She looks amazing as usual, she is wearing something a little bit formal than what she wore the other day.

"Hello" she says

"Oh hello dear" my mom replies, "you look beautiful"

"Thank you, Mrs. Hutcherson" she blushes

"Oh honey I told you, call me Michelle" my mom tells her

"And call me Chris" my dad smiles

"Hi" I speak up

"Hello" she replies

We are snapped out of our little bubble when Jen's mom tells us to have a seat.

"Thank you" my mom replies, "Here we got you something" she says handing her the pies she made

"Oh thank you, but you didn't have to" Mrs. Lawrence smiles, "Jenny, show Josh up to your room"

"O-ok" Jen stutters

"Thanks Mrs. Lawrence" I grin

"Oh honey call me Karen"

"Alright Karen"

I follow Jen upstairs to her room, and it is nothing like I imagined it. There are tons of books, the walls are a light blue, and there are no Justin Bieber posters on the walls.
