Jen POV

It's Monday, which means homecoming was 2 days ago. It's a new week today which means that Josh has probably forgotten how to be nice to me and will go back to being the asshole he is.

I quickly head to the bathroom, take a shower and get dressed. I decide to go back to the way I used to dress until before my birthday. I wear a short top, black jeggings, and a dark grey hoodie. I pair the whole outfit with light blue converse then run downstairs.

I decided not to tell my parents about me dancing with Josh at homecoming. I just told them that I hung out with my 'friends' and had a lot of fun, which was a lie.

I know that I only went to homecoming to prove Josh wrong, to prove that I am strong, I have power too and I guess it worked.

"Hey Jenny" Mom greets

"Hey! Where is everyone?" I ask

"Oh dad went to work early. Ben and Blaine are still in bed"

"Right..."

"So, I have been meaning to ask you did you dance with anyone at homecoming?" Mom whispers

"Uh...no" I feel bad about lying to my mom which makes my palms get sweaty

"Why not?" she pushes

"Because my friends and I decided we will just hang out and not dance" I explained

"What about Josh? Why didn't you dance with him?"

"He had a date and I didn't want to dance" I lie again

"Ok" Mom frowns

I have my breakfast then collect my backpack. I kiss my mom on the cheek then head to the door.

I am in my car listening to the radio when a new song comes on. It's called Closer by The Chainsmokers apparently. I jam out to the song even though I haven't heard it before. I lose myself in the beat of the song.

On my way to school is the only time of day when I get to forget about life, I can just enjoy the songs and the beats. I can enjoy the view outside my window as I drive, sometimes I feel like running away to the horizon and never returning but all my daydreams come to an end when I reach school.

I grab my backpack from the passenger seat and get out of the car. I close my car door and mentally prepare myself to face the day. I am not wearing my glasses today but I have brought them with me just incase something goes wrong.

I start walking across the parking lot to the main doors of school. Until I spot Josh and his friends, I don't want to face him after what happened at homecoming but he has other plans.

"There she is" he calls out "You stuck to your promise"

He starts walking closer to me, which causes me to freeze in my place.

"What promise?" I stop stuttering but my voice is still soft

"You promised you were going to stun everyone and drop jaws at homecoming" he speaks, almost mockingly
