A flowing white dress
a false blue flower in her hat
The lady traveller wandered the city streets
beyond the time to rest for most
she kept going as if to boast
"Men could never be as capable as women."
But yet one man sat alone beneath the cloth of his stall
a few shady trinkets and skewered rats was all
But yet he looked up and saw
what a beautiful woman with skin fairer than most
hair to contrast, her eyes reminded the merchant of the sweet hazelnut he would eat at his post
He dug through his coat and scrambled to her feet
prying her palm he released one single watch
a beautiful golden watch for a beautiful lady traveller
The lady traveller looked closely at the watch and reached into her pocket.
From this pocket, she revealed a locket,
On one side there was a picture
and on the other her family scripture
simply the word "reddam"
but this might buy him ham
She dropped the locket beneath his stall
and left before she could watch him fall
to his knees, he began to bawl
for the short moment she spent
was enough to leave a dent
within his sad
lonesome
heart
