Lonely

I know the word too well,
I've heard it too often.
The defeaning silence of it all,
It's so empty and void.
I could live life like this,
I don't fear or feel displaced here.
This part of the world is home,
To me and few others at least.
I have to say,
It's no different now than then.
I remember it all too well,
I still feel the weight of it.
I can hear the lack of life,
Each drip or drop is part of me.
But it weighs so much differently,
Not the same as before.
It's almost lonely here,
I think I already miss you.
