I thought of so many different things. I thought of so many different ways to break it down to him. But I couldn't formulate the words to come out of my mouth. Not when we were driving home. Not when we had a quick dinner at the kitchen table. Not when we laid down in the bed together. I just didn't know what to say.

When I woke up the next morning, I saw that it was a little after seven. The doctor's office didn't open until nine so I forced myself back to sleep. I didn't feel like killing myself with waiting.

Prince woke me at eight something. He was off to a warehouse he bought to use as a rehearsal space.

I dozed off quickly after he left.

As if my biological clock was the culprit, I woke up for a third time at nine o'clock on the dot.

I sighed and went to the bathroom. I was still bleeding but the cramping had subsided.

I needed to get my mind off things.

I strolled in the kitchen and made a bowl of cereal, though, I had zero appetite. Then I sat down on the couch and turned on the television.

None of the programs managed to grasp my attention so I called Pria.

"Michael called again yesterday. I told him you wouldn't be here the weekend so he finally asked if you could contact him at Hayvenhurst when you get a moment."

I cleared my throat. "Okay."

"Denise Matthews called for you, too. That's Vanity, right?"

I still had yet to meet up with her and I didn't tell her when I was leaving L.A. We weren't friends but I felt bad, a little. "Yeah. Did she leave a number?"

"Yeah, with Rita."

"Cool."

"What are you doing today?"

"Not sure."

"What's wrong?"

The last thing I wanted was my pregnant sister to worry about me. I made myself smile which spiked my inflection. "Nothing. I just woke up. I just wanted to check on you."

"Oh. Well, did you talk to Mia?"

I sighed. "Yeah. She's mad at me. Something with Adrienne. I don't know."

"Oh, Lord."

"I know."

"You know Mia is protective of you."

"I know. But she was screaming at me about something that happened at my house back in L.A. I'm still very confused by it. She said she saw Adrienne and then questioned if I knew what was really going on in the house while I was gone. Adrienne is never even there so I don't know what Mia is talking about. Can you try and talk to her for me?"

"Sure. When I get a chance. But in the meantime, ask Adrienne."

"I called her yesterday but she's hard to get to when she's bouncing from house to house. I don't know where she is."

Plus, I was still mad at her.

But I needed to get to the bottom of this situation. I knew it would distract me from my health issues. So I called around for Adrienne.

I found her at one of her cousin's houses.

"I thought you were still mad at me so I tried staying away. I'm going back home tomorrow, though."
