SATURDAY

Hazel was looking at Leo's date while she kept worrying about him.

I feel I know her.

From your life? Because I'm almost sure I never saw her in my entire life.

Yeah, from my world, but I can't really remember from where...

"You. Are. Crazy."

Hazel turned to see the girl behind her.

"Oh! Hey, Lucy."

"And Nanni is an ungrateful bastard."

Okay, sudden change of subject.

I think she came to talk with us to complain about him.

Hazel smiled gently.

"Why?"

Lucy was snorting, clearly offended.

"I went there to check on him, and he kept brushing me off."

"Well, I'm sure it's not personal."

Lucy looked at her skeptically.

"Ok, maybe it's a little personal, but I think he really enjoys your company."

Lucy huffed.

Well, I like her. Tell her that, maybe it helps.

"I know I do."

Lucy smiled.

"I enjoy your company too, Hannah. So, question. How are you going to explain to your whole family these bruises tomorrow?"

"My... whole family?"

"Yeah, Thanksgiving, remember? I hate and love at the same time. Sure, it's amazing to have all the family gathered, but they can be so embarrassing and nosy. I remember once, my cousin Karen was stupid enough to let her boyfriend give her a hickey before Eric's birthday. My family freaked out when they saw it. Sure, I was eight and had no idea what a hickey was at the time, but I can remember thinking it was something very bad, for all the drama they made."

She is a little bit oversharing, don't you think so?

I still like her.

Yeah, me too.

"Of course, Aunt Lily was there, she can practically smell a scandal, so it didn't matter how much make up Karen used to cover it, Aunt Lily would find it. Sorry, got carried away. So, how are you going to explain?"

What should we answer?

I don't know.

"Uh... I won't need to."

"Why? Isn't your family nosy? How could that be? I thought all family is supposed to be nosy, isn't it part of the job description?"

I like her, but I'm not sure I want to share this level of detail about my life with her.

"I... won't be spending tomorrow with them."

"Why not?"

"Uh..."

"Sorry, the nosiness is already strong on me, and haven't spent time with my family yet. But you have plans, right? Or at least company?"

If she keeps pushing, we will need an excuse.
