WARNING: THIS CHAPTER MADE AUTHOR CRY (I've lost so many readers!!! :.......!    )

Tick. Tock.

I sit...waiting, outside that operation room. It has been roughly eight hours since the announcement of the operation.

And all that I'm left with, sitting in that hard, blue, plastic chair, captivated with only the plain white walls surrounding me, was the sliver of hope that he'd stay with the living, many years longer. We'd be able to do all the things he loves ever since I was a child.

All of it. And I'd do them a million times more with him if he'd survive.

The ticking of the clock on the wall across from me, soothed my nerves like a lullaby.

Slowly, sleep comes to me, my eyelids closing me off and away from reality, even though, I know it won't last long.

...Sweet memories....

I stand there in the dark. Watching the battered and bruised me sitting on the granite counter in Kuro's small apartment. He still had his scrappy looking hair, that always seemed to be sticking up at all ends, even after putting gel in it. He had the large first aid box that he kept on the highest shelf, where I was never able to reach. He was sweetly checking my wounds, and gently dabbing them with alcohol. I see myself flinching at his touch, despite being used to pain.

"It's okay sweetheart. The mean, old lady can't get you anymore! You're with daddy Kuro now!"

His dumb, looking smile made mini me confused.

I walk closer to the memory to see more of him. I wanted to see every detail that I missed back then.

His light blue jeans, the green flannel that matched his eyes, the black sweatshirt he wore over it all.

"I already have a daddy. And I don't even know your name."

Kuro patted my head.

That's right. Kuro was never surprised at how much I knew.

"Would a daddy hurt their own child?"

Little me thought for a bit before shaking her head.

"Exactly. So I'm your new daddy!"

His eyes sparkled excitedly. My small, bandaged up hand, ran through his hair, surprising the both of us.

"No, you'd be my uncle."

Kuro grabbed my small hand, puts it in front of his face, and kissed it.

He suddenly sighed dramatically, flinging his free hand around.

"I guess that's good enough! Uncle KURO though!"

And with that, fog shrouded the memory.

I reappeared in front of the memory when Kuro brought me to his workplace.

"Come on honey!"

"I told you not to call me that name...or any ridiculous name at the matter of fact."

"Hmm, too bad!'

Kuro grabbed my nine-year-old hand, dragging me inside the large building of the company he works for.

He kept poking me the entire way to the elevator, and kept on telling the people we walked by that I was his daughter, which I denied every single time. He skipped us into the elevator, pressing floor twenty five, the top floor.
