Erin's POV

I walked into mine and Ethan's house, waiting for the yelling to start. Ethan and I have been arguing non-stop the past few weeks and tonight I went out without telling him. It was just passed midnight and I was hoping he'd be asleep. I closed the door quietly and took my shoes and jacket off. I walked into the kitchen to find Ethan leaning against the counter, staring at me with his arms crossed. "You're still up? It's late," I said trying to prolong the argument.

"Where the hell have you been?" Ethan yelled.

"I was out with the girls," I said pouring myself a glass of water.

"Why didn't you tell me? For all I knew you could've been kidnapped," he said.

"Well here I am, safe and sound. I don't have to tell you where I'm going every time I leave the house," I said before taking a sip of water.

Ethan smacked the glass out of my hand, causing water to go everywhere and the glass the shatter on the floor.

"What the hell, Ethan?!" I yelled, looking at the mess he just created.

"I'm sick and tired of you going out without telling me!" He yelled.

"I don't belong to you, Ethan! I can do whatever I want!" I yelled back.

"No, you can't do whatever you want, Erin, and lately and I haven't been able to trust you because every time I turn my back, you're out the damn door!"

"Maybe I keep leaving because you keep overreacting over the tiniest things!" I took a deep breath and looked at Ethan one final time before making my decision. "You know what, Ethan? If you can't trust me and if I can't be around you without wanting to leave, then maybe we shouldn't be together."

"If you want to leave, then go ahead! The door's right there!" He yelled, pointing to the door.

Tears came to my eyes when I saw Ethan's face. He looked emotionless, like me breaking up with him didn't bother him at all. "Fine," I choked out before heading to the door.

I put my boots and my jacket back on and opened the door, looking out at the dark, rain filled street. I turned around one last time to see if Ethan changed his mind, but he wasn't there. I shut the door and walked to my car. As soon as I shut the door, I started to cry. I yelled and screamed at how stupid I was to have let Ethan go. Ethan was everything to me and I just broke up with him over a silly argument. I drove out of the driveway and down the street. I didn't know where I was going. The rain started to pour harder and the road became slippery. The tears in my eyes caused my vision to go blurry and I could barely make out what was on the road. All of a sudden, I saw a person crossing the road. I tried to stop to make sure I didn't hit them but I lost control of my car and swerved to the other side of the road. I headed towards two bright lights and then everything went black.

Ethan's POV

After Erin left, I couldn't believe what actually happened. I thought this was just another one of our stupid arguments but somehow I let it get out of hand and the love of my life just walked out of my life. I cleaned up the mess I made from knocking the glass out of Erin's hand and then I went into our bedroom and opened the closet and sat on the edge of our bed, staring at her clothes. I let a few tears slip down my face when I decided I couldn't just let her go. I quickly ran downstairs and slipped on my shoes when I got a call from the hospital. Confused, I answered it. "Hello?"

"Hi, is this Ethan Dolan?" the voice on the other end asked.

"Yes"

"I'm afraid Erin has been in a car crash and has been rushed to the hospital. You were her emergency contact." My heart dropped. This couldn't be happening. "If you could come d-"

"I'm on my way," I said, cutting the lady off. I hung up and drove to the hospital driving way over the speed limit. I didn't bother parking in the parking lot, I just left my car at the hospital entrance and ran inside.

"Where is she?! Where's Erin" I yelled.

A nurse ran up to me and tried to calm me down. "Are you Ethan?" she asked.

"Yes, now where's my girlfriend?" I didn't want to waste another second, I wanted to see Erin.

"She's in surgery right now, Mr. Dolan. You'll have to wait out here," she said.

"No, I need to see her!" I said, pushing past the nurse and through the doors to the surgery wing. "Erin?" I yelled, frantically trying to find the room with her in it. "Erin!"

Security quickly came through the doors and pulled me out of the hall. They forced me into the seating area until Erin was out of surgery. I couldn't keep still. I kept shaking my leg and fidgeting with my hands. What if something was wrong with Erin? What if she doesn't make it? This would all be my fault! If only I didn't overreact, we could've been at home right now, sleeping in each other's arms.

"Mr. Dolan?" a man said, walking out of the surgery wing. I stood up and the man waved me over. "I'm Dr. Long," he said giving his hand for me to shake. I ignored it and got to the point.

"Is she okay?" I asked.

The doctor smiled and nodded and I couldn't have felt more relieved. "She collided with a truck due to the weather. Luckily, the truck wasn't moving and the impact wasn't big. She broke a few bones and had a few major cuts which needed to be stitched up. She's out of surgery and healthy."

"Thank you so much, Dr. Long," I said giving him a hug. "Can I go see her?"

"Of course, follow me."

He led me to Erin's room. Erin was asleep in the hospital bed so I sat in the chair next to her. I listened to the heart monitor and watched her sleep. She had scratches and bruises all over her skin. I couldn't help but feel responsible. I held her hand and gave her a kiss on her forehead before falling asleep.

Erin's POV

I woke up in a lot of pain. I could barely move and all I could hear was a constant beeping noise. I opened my eyes and waited for my vision to clear up. I noticed I was in a hospital room and that Ethan was asleep beside me, holding my hand. "Eth?" I struggled to say.

Ethan's eyes fluttered open and a sigh of relief escaped his mouth when he noticed me awake. He gave me a hug which hurt a lot but I didn't stop him. I was so happy to have him back.

"I'm so glad you're okay," he said, finally letting go of me. "I'm so sorry, Erin. I regret everything I said before. I love you so much and you mean everything to me. When you left, I felt so empty inside and when I got the call saying you were in an accident, I felt like my world shattered. I need you in my life, Erin. Please forgive me?"

"Only if you don't let me leave like that again, promise?" I asked.

"I promise," he said smiling, sticking out his pinky. We made a pinky promise and he looked me in my eyes and I knew I needed him in my life.

"I love you, Ethan," I said, my voice scratchy.

"I love you too, Erin."
