"10 cm dilated. It's time to push!" The doctor said.
You turned to Grayson with a smile. "Are you ready?" he asked.
You nodded- you couldn't wait. This was yours and Grayson's first child. You found out you were pregnant the morning of your wedding. Nine months later, here you are on a beautiful April's afternoon, in a hospital room with the man you love most and about to give birth to your first child. You'd been in labour for 26 hours and you were beyond ready for the baby to come out.
"Alright, Y/N, we're going to push on three, okay? One...Two...Three," the doctor said.
40 minutes later, the doctor held up your baby. "Congratulations, it's a girl!" the doctor said.
You turned to Grayson who had tears of joy in his eyes. "A girl!" you both said in unison.
The doctor handed you your new daughter and you held her tiny body in your arms. You admired her beautiful face as Grayson placed his hand on your back. "I love you so much," he said to you.
"I love you too," you said back and you shared a kiss. "And I love you too," you said to your daughter. "I love you so, so much."
You held onto your daughter for another few minutes and then gave her to Grayson. You watched the two people you loved most in the world and you had never been so happy. "She looks just like you," he said. You smiled and rested your head back. You started to feel really tired. You slowly closed your eyes and could hear commotion starting to rise. Your heart rate was speeding and you could hear people running in and out of the room. Your daughter started to cry and Grayson was yelling for answers. "What's going on?" he yelled.
"Sir, please, calm down," a nurse said.
"No, I will not calm down! Tell me what's wrong with my wife!" He demanded.
"Mr. Dolan, please. We're going to have to take your daughter out of the room for now, just to keep her safe," the nurse said. After a few seconds the nurse said "thank you."
You felt Grayson run up next to you and hold your hand. You struggled to open your eyes but you managed to create a slit. You saw Grayson's worried face right next to yours.
"Hey Y/N. Everything's going to be okay, okay? You'll be fine. She'll be fine, right?" He asked now looking at the doctor who was examining you.
"We're going to have to go into immediate surgery. She's losing too much blood," the doctor said to the nurses, ignoring Grayson. "Take the husband out of the room please," he said to one of the nurses.
"What? No! No, you already took my daughter you can't take my wife too!"
"Sir, please. It's what's best for your wife," the nurse said to him.
"Grayson, go," you said quietly.
You could see him debating whether or not to leave you. He took a deep breath and nodded towards the nurse. "Fine, I'll go," he said and walked over to you, taking your hands, "You're going to be okay. These doctors know what they're doing. I'll see you on the other side, okay?"
You nodded even though you knew there was a high chance that you wouldn't see him again. "Grayson, if I don't make it, please, take care of our daughter. She needs a loving home," you said, tears forming in your eyes.
"No, don't say that. You'll make it, I know you will, " he said, tears now streaming down your face.
"I love you, Grayson," you said weakly.
"I love you too, Y/N," he said quietly. You shared a kiss and Grayson was pushed out of the room, never losing eye contact with you until they shut the door.
