I threw my arms up in the air, then fell back to my sides, I felt the aggravation build up in me but I fought it down and considered what she had said.
"What do you want me do then?"
"Leave him."
"Gaylord I'm not going to break up with him for you."
"Then this is it, this is goodbye."
"Just because I won't break with him you're going to walk away from our friendship?"
Gaylord nodded. I took a deep breath and felt the sadness settle within me.
I heard the doorknob turn and I moved out of the way, Angus came out into the hallway.
"Ease dropping much?" I said, the words coming out harsher than I intended.
"I thought I might've been the problem. Listen Gaylord, I haven't gotten to know you but you seem like a good friend so why ask this?" Angus asked.
"You don't deserve her, and you guys are moving way too fast." She answered.
"It's not like we're getting married tomorrow Gaylord, I simply asked her if she would be my girl and now we're dating. I don't see why you've got to have a snooty attitude and act as if there's a stick in your ass." Angus said bluntly. Gotta love him for that, I thought to myself. No guy that I'd been with ever stuck up to her this way, the only people that have are Ivy and I.
"I don't!" Her voice went up an octave again.
"Believe what you want but you do. Now how about we just go to bed huh? Gaylord you still get the bed and Lorna and I have got the floor. It's ridiculous not to mention childish that you overreacted on Lorna not wanting to share the bed with you and tried to get her to break up with me for it." Said Angus.
"Whatever." Gaylord huffed.
I shook my head and smiled at Angus, "It's okay, let's go to bed."
We went back into the room, and Gaylord crawled onto the bed and Angus and I took the floor. I tried to go to sleep, but I couldn't get comfortable and with only one blanket between Angus and I, well we were each trying to hog it.
"Will you just share the blanket?" I asked.
Angus pulled the blanket in his direction in response. I rolled my eyes and tugged the blanket towards me roughly, causing the blanket to slip off Angus.
"Ha." I laughed, wrapping myself in the warm blanket.
Angus rolled over and gave me a deathly glare. I merely looked back at him calmly, "What?"
"Give me the damn blanket." Angus practically growled out.
"No." I said in defiance.
"We're not going to fight over a blanket, now give it to me!"
"No."
"Will you guys shut up?" Gaylord asked.
"No!" Angus and I said at the same time.
"Give him the blanket Lorna." Gaylord demanded.
"He was the one hogging it! I was cold."
"Was not."
"Was too."
"Stop it!" Gaylord shouted. "Now share the blanket and be quite."
Angus and I looked at each other and busted out laughing. I took the blanket off me and pulled it over the both of us, staying close to each other to keep the blanket covering both of us. We were still snickering and Gaylord made a sound of irritation, which only made us laugh harder. We settled down and I snuggled close to him for warmth and because I could, my face close to his neck and he borrowed his face in my hair.
I let out one more snicker, mumbled out a "Love you." And fell asleep.
