When we entered the pub, everyone waved at Bon and the bartender had a drink waiting for him.
"Another one of these please." Bon said to the bartender.
Bon took a seat on the bar stool and took a seat next to him, the bartender putting a glass of alcohol in front of me in seconds.
"Cheers." Bon said, raising his glass and taking a healthy drink from it.
I did the same and almost choked as the taste of Jack Daniels overwhelmed my taste buds. Warmth spread through my body and I felt a tingling sensation throughout my body.
"Feel any better?" Bon asked, taking another drink from his glass.
"A little." I replied. Although the pain was there in the background, waiting for its chance to come back full force.
"In the morning you won't even care about him anymore." Bon replied in such a sure voice.
"How do you know for sure Bon?"
"I've had girls in the past that have done to me what Angus has done to you, but I hardly feel the pain anymore and it's all thanks to this." Bon said, pointing to his glass. "And don't you start feeling bad for me now, I'm not depressed or anything like that, just a couple of bad relationships that's all."
"Wouldn't dream of it Bon." I responded with a grin.
We had a lot of drinks in the hours that passed, and then Bon and I were very close to each other. I turned my head and Bon leaned in and kissed me softly on the lips. Eagerly, I kissed him back happily and then the thought of Angus crashed into my drunken mind and I pulled away quickly.
"Bon I can't, I love him too much." I mumbled, foolish tears forming in my eyes.
Bon nodded in understanding. "Go to him and talk it out. No harsh feelings between us?"
"No Bon, of course not." I replied, getting off the stool and feeling suddenly sober made my way out of the bar and towards the house. Angus was sitting outside on the porch when I got back and he raised his head to look at me when I was close to him. His eyes bloodshot and tired, "Oh Angus what's happened to you?" I asked, sitting down next to him.
"I went looking for you, but Malcolm wouldn't tell me where you had gone and there was no trace of you anywhere. I searched all over the area but I had no idea where you might go or if you weren't somewhere in the house hiding. Please know how terrible I feel for driving you out of here, if I could've only come up with the words to explain but I was tongue tied." Angus explained, his voice tired and rough. "I only meant to say that I didn't want to sleep with you because I love you and I wanted it to be you know special like after I took you out somewhere real nice and we were in my bed and..." Angus began to ramble and I put my finger to his lips to shush him.
"This was all because you love me?" I asked him.
Angus nodded, looking suddenly very unsure of himself. I knew I should've told him about Bon but it wasn't the right time to tell him.
"I love you too Angus, and I'm sorry for overreacting." I said, giving him a hug.
He hugged me back tightly. "This is all too mushy for us isn't it?" Angus said letting out a laugh.
The heavy mood was lifted and I laughed with him. "I suppose it is, but hey people are always mushy when in love."
"And you call me the corny one!" Angus joked, pulling back from me and kissed me on my nose.
"Hey I say that because it's true! And you're way cornier than I am." I proclaimed proudly.
"Oh that's a laugh." Angus replied, still snickering.
"We should really get some sleep." I said, getting up and walking to the front door.
Angus got up too and I opened the door, in the living room Ivy was occupied with Luke while Gaylord, Malcolm, and Phil looked to be deep in a conversation on the couch across from Luke and Ivy. Cliff was nowhere to be seen, and I knew where Bon was. Angus and I silently went up the stairs and down the dark hallway to his room. We had just gotten into his bed and I was on the cusp of falling to sleep when Angus asks, "Where'd Bon go?"
Panic and guilt swept through me. "What do you mean?"
"He wasn't in his room and usually he's home by now."
"I'm sure he just went out for a drink and found a girl." I replied.
"Did you happen to run into him?"
"No, no I talked to him before he left, and then I left the house." It wasn't the whole truth but there was no good way of telling him what had happened. I could tell Ivy and Gaylord but honestly what was the harm of not saying anything? True I kissed Bon but it had been a one time thing and it was an accident, an accident that won't be repeated in this lifetime. Ivy would be pissed if she ever found out I didn't tell her but when would this ever come up? No one knew about it except Bon and I and I'm sure Bon wouldn't bring it up without my consent. Unless Cliff saw us......
"Where did you go anyway?" Angus asked, pulling me away from my thoughts.
"I wandered around trying to clear my head, and then I realized how ridiculous I was being and came back." i answered.
"I think we were both being ridiculous. I ran into Malcolm and he told me to stop being an idiot, to enjoy what we have." Angus said.
I laughed in response and snuggled to Angus. "I think Malcolm may have had a thing for Ivy." I told him.
"You think he doesn't anymore though?"
"No, he probably still does but he'll hide it from everyone and try to convince himself that there isn't anything between Ivy and him. I think he was going to ask her out today but Luke came back and he was too late, maybe that's why he told you to enjoy what you have." I said to Angus.
"On that note, I think Mal was right and I'm going to take his advice. Will you go out with me?" Angus said, speaking quickly near the end.
"Are you asking me to be your girlfriend?" I asked teasingly.
"Yeah."
"Gaylord will kill me for this but yes Angus I'll go out with you." I said.
"Do you think Ivy will remember Malcolm owes her twenty dollars?" Angus mumbled, arms wrapped around me tightly.
"In time I think she will but the question is will Malcolm ever pay her?" I said, mirth in my voice.
"Most likely not." Angus replied.
"Night Angus, love ya."
"Love you too." Angus mumbled back.
