--Mallory-

“What the hell were you thinking? He could’ve done something to you!” Joey yelled at me. We were sitting in my room, eating chocolate from a box that a girl gave to Joey. I rolled my eyes.

“Well nothing happened so, it’s all good. And besides, I’ve been texting him non stop since Saturday!” I argued and stuffed a caramel chocolate in my mouth.

“Ohh! You’ve been texting for four days. Big whoop.” Joey threw a wrapper at me and I glared at him. My phone vibrated on the bed and I excitingly picked it up. I thought it was going to be Luke, but it only turned out to be Thomas. I glanced at Joey before I opened the text. I read it through slowly.

“Hey Mal. Just wanted to check up on u. See how ur doing. Hope ur happy. –Thomas” I smiled at how the only word he abbreviated was ‘you’ and ‘you’re’. He knows how I hate it when people don’t type things out all the way. He knows me so well.

“Lemme guess, it’s Luke?” Joey said in a girly voice. I shook my head.

“It’s Thomas.” I texted back a thanks and saying I was fine and decided to add a smiley face in there. When I looked up at Joey, he was smirking at me.

            “What?”

“You’re still in love with him, aren’t you?” He smiled. I felt my hear stop in my chest. Did I?

“No, I have Kent and Luke now. My options…my options are-are open.” I stuttered.

“It sounds like you’re trying to tell yourself that, now doesn’t it?” Joey stands up, grabs his coat and rubs my hair before he walks out. I hate it when he does this. He says something that makes me think, and then just leaves me alone so I have to think about it. I went to my bed and snuggled deep into my covers. I just lay there. What should I do? I start to drift off to sleep, but then I hear rocks hitting my window, I jump out of my bed and run to the window. I look down and see Luke standing there. I look down at what I’m wearing. Pajama shorts and a tank top. I shrug my shoulders and hold up a finger to tell him to wait. He smiles and nods. I throw on sweatpants and a sweater. Good enough. But when I walk outside, I don’t see Luke anywhere.

“Luke? Where’d you’d you? You better not scare me...” I warn but I feel myself smiling.

“Mallory.” I turn around and see Thomas. I gasp.

            “Thomas?” I whisper. “Where’s Luke?”

“He uh, he had to go.” Thomas rubs the back of his head. He’s nervous. I smile. It’s nice to know I can still make him feel this way.

“Where?” I grab my phone and see if he texted me. It surprised me that he actually did.

“Hey Mal sorry I had to leave so fast. I was just doing a favor for an old friend. Make up with him already!” The end had a smiley face. I felt my mouth drop.

“Old friend?!”

“What? Oh Luke and I? Yeah. We were neighbors as kids. Best friends. I asked him for this favor. I owe him one now.”

“That’s unfair.” I try to frown, but a smile is stuck on my face.

“Mallory, I miss you.” He whispers and grabs my waist. I feel butterflies build up in my belly and my heart is about to pound out of my chest.
