--Mallory-

I was lying in bed, watching Tangled for the hundredth time. I sighed. What to do on this beautiful Saturday? I rolled over on my stomach and pushed my face deep into my pillow.

Then the phone rang. I ignored it. It’s probably just my dad calling from Main. I don’t know what he’s doing there. Something for work I think. I was surprised when Kacey called me.

“Mal! Phone for you!”

I sat up, debating whether or not I should answer it or not.

“Uh, who is it?” I reached out for the phone.

“Uh, his name is something like Ken?”

“Kent?” I smiled and pushed the on button.

“Hello?”

“Hey there, doll face!” I could hear the smile in his voice.

“Kent! Hey! What’s up?” I replied, smiling myself.

“I was just wondering if you wanted to hang out today.”

“Who’s all going to go?” I twirled some hair around my index finger.

“I was thinking it could just be you and I?”

“Okay. Sound fun. What would we do?”

“We could go to the movies then out to lunch.” He offered.

Going to the movies and then out to eat is something that only Thomas and I get to do.

“Uh, I’m not really in the mood for a movie. Going out to eat sound fabulous though!”

“Okay! We could go to the park.”

Last time I went on a date we ended up at the park and I found out about Melinda.

“Uh…”

“How about the mall?”

“Sure! We could look at music! And puppies! Like we used to.” I smiled thinking back to eighth grade.

“I’ll be there in ten, so be ready!”

“Aye-aye captain!”

We hang up and I run into my bathroom to take a quick shower. Knowing Kent, he’ll be ten minutes late.

Once I was done, I went to my closet and pulled out skinnies out. I pulled on a t-shirt and slipped on a pair of Toms.

All set!

As I predicted, Kent was ten minutes late.

“Hey!” I sang out once I buckled myself in.

“Hey there! All set?”

“All set.” I nodded.

At the mall, we walked in and out of shops, trying on the ugliest clothes in the store. We stopped to look at puppies.

“I want one!” I squealed.

“I’ll buy one for you for your birthday. It’s coming up.”
