Six.

Amanda.

I woke to the sound of my mother's voice. Not Amelia's, but my mother that had raised me. Apparently, she was not my mother at all. I was starting to accept that fact and accepted Amelia.

"Amanda! Is she alright?" she asked. Her voice was panicked.

"She is fine, my love," I s that Marian?

"Oh! Thank heavens!" she exclaimed. "I was starting to get worried. Now that I have checked on Amanda, I can concentrate on you, my King."

Did her voice just deepen? I asked myself. And why couldn't I move?

Do not panic. Right now I have blocked your thoughts from your father. I recognized the voice to be Amelia's.

Why? I wasn't sure how I could reply to her, so I just tried to say it with my voice and mind.

I wanted you to see that you are my daughter, not the human's. Just listen, She instructed. So I did listen.

"How is your little witch doing?" Jennifer sneered. I didn't know she could get jealous.

"Must we talk of her?" Marian's voice was muffled. My imagination came to my rescue when I heard Jennifer moan.

I don't want to listen! I mentally shouted the thought to Amelia.

Just listen, she responded with a death tone. Guess she didn't like anybody with her man.

"Yes. She is your wife and queen," Jennifer said with a giggle. My ears were going to be fired off and I would be deaf.

"She won't be for long," was Marian's reply. "Tomorrow at the party, I will denounce her throne and she will no longer be Queen. And her children will have no choice but to follow her. Tatiana and Adrian will no longer be heirs to the vampire throne."

"Those twits will not see it coming," Jennifer added with an evil laugh as she said this. "And who will be your new queen?"

"You're already my queen. And our daughter will become the Heir," Marian said. My head was reeling with hatred and I couldn't keep track of my thoughts.

"That is what I want to hear. But what will the Council say?" Jennifer's voice spiked with hatred.

What is the council? I asked Amelia.

I'll tell you late. Keep listening, she said.

"They will have to accept or they will be killed," Marian said.

"My King, what will happen to Amanda tomorrow night?" Jennifer suddenly asked.

"She will have half the features that I have. Why?"

"Are you so sure?"

"Yes, my love. What is wrong?" my father's voice was laced with concern. The bastard really did love my mother.

It took a while for Jennifer to respond, but when she did, she was truly scared. It took little for me to wonder why.

I am going to release your mind now. Don't' think about the entire conversation you just heard and I want you to act the same no matter what. I felt Amelia's presence leave my mind as I opened my eyes.

"Amanda," I heard Jennifer say. I looked at her with disgust. I quickly reined it in and made the happiest smile I could.

"Mom," I said as she hugged me.

When she finally let go of me, Amelia walked in the room. Her expression as calm and sincere, but I wasn't a fool. I knew she was mad as hell. As they say, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. I'll bet hell didn't even have a place for a witch that was denied love.
