Annie's POV:
It's been a few weeks since the crash and Caleb hasn't awoken from his coma. Katie is getting surgery today. She has recovered a bit, but her memory is really bad. You have to remind her of something almost 30 times until she stops asking.
Brennan and I decided to start going back to school last week, since we've already missed so much. The day is just filled of 'I'm so sorry' and 'stay strong'. It's hard.
I've also had to continue my gymnastics training without her by my side. And she isn't going to be back until Christmas break.
I sighed as I slipped my bag over my shoulder. Brennan and I stop at the hospital every morning, but he wasn't here yet.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang and I ran to the door. I half expected to see Katie and have Caleb right behind me, but it was just Brennan. Don't get me wrong, I love him; life is just so bland without the jokesters of our group. He pulled me in for a hug and quick kiss before we went inside their car.
After the accident I couldn't bring myself to drive. Caleb would be here easing me back into it, since he was the one who taught me.
A small tear escaped my eye and I wiped it away as Brennan drove off.

Katie's POV:
Every once in a while Brennan helps me go through my texts and answer them. Today, before surgery, is supposed to be the last time.
Brennan and Annie popped in the room, my phone in Annie's hand.
The doctors came in a while ago and gave me the laughing gas to calm me down after I kept attacking the doctor. I laughed.
"Uh. So first Mia texted you. She says she misses you and hopes the surgery goes well." Annie mumbled.
"Tell her I love her toooooooo." I slurred.
"Zach said he misses you and wants to know why you keep falling out of touch." I completely forget who the hell 'Zach' was.
"Tell him I don't miss him. I'm busy and have a life too." I glared. I didn't even know what I was saying.
"Are you sure Kate?" She asked me.
"Of course I am! I don't even like him." I laughed hysterically. I watched Annie reluctantly send the message.
"Caleb hasn't woken up." Brennan said, trying to change the mood. Hah.
"Caleb's a cutie." I grinned, thinking about him. It felt like there was my normal self in my head screaming "let me out! What are you doing?" At me. I laughed some more until a doctor entered.
"She's ready for surgery." He said. He sure looked funny, with his dark beard and googly eyes. I laughed more.
"We had to give her laughing gas. She tried to attack my intern." He chuckled.
Annie and Brennan held my hands tightly, and slowly let go as they wheeled me away.

Brennan's POV:
Annie teared up more. So much has been happening and I can imagine how stressed she must be. I pulled her into a hug in the now empty room. I took her away and we headed to a long day of school.
Caleb not being at school has made me pretty lonely. Ben has made the group think I'm a jerk, and even Brady doesn't want to be around me.
At lunches I've had to sit with Annie and her gymnastics group of friends. I get looks, but it's nice being with Annie at the least.
I was listening to Mia talk about how good her front tucks are better than a couple day sago and my phone started going off. Everyone looks at me and Annie looks hopeful. I answer, and it's Mom.
"Hey mom." I said quietly.
"Katie's surgery is finished. She's asleep right now, and when she wakes up she probably won't remember much of what happened during her weeks in the hospital. I'll call and you and Annie can come when she wakes up." Mom said.
"Okay. Thanks. Bye." I stuttered. I hung up and hugged Annie.
"The surgery went well. She should be up in a couple hours." I grinned. Annie shockingly kissed me. Arden and Sydney 'oohed' and Annie blushed. "Sorry. I was really happy." She said, blushing even more. I pecked her lips and got another call.
"She woke up!"

Annie's POV:
Brennan grabbed my arm and I quickly grabbed my bag as he pulled me towards the office.
"We need to leave. Family member in the hospital." He said, almost shouting.
"You aren't in the same family?" The woman replied, reluctantly handing the sign out sheet to us.
"My best friend. Thanks!" I shouted after signing as Brennan pulled me again.
I laughed as we ran through the lightly falling snow. Brennan started the car and practically sped to the hospital, much against my will. We ran through the hospital and into Katie's room, clearly out of breath.
"What happened? How did we crash?" Katie said, with no laughing or staring. She had real emotions.
"Katie!" I screamed and ran to hug her. Happy tears fell out of my eyes and I realized how much I've cried recently.
"You're yourself again!" Brennan shouted happily.
"Yeah yeah, it was all a complete blur. Mom said we had an accident." She said, concerned.
"What happened to Caleb?" She asked, suddenly realizing he wasn't with us. I took a deep breath and answered her.
"He got hurt the most. He hit his head so hard it knocked him into a coma. They also found out he has a disease called HCM. They caught it early, so he'll be okay if he wakes up." I said in all seriousness. Brennan wrapped his arms around me before I cried for the 100th time.
"He was a little in the road and some guy was speeding, so when Caleb tried to turn on the highway the guy crashed into us and we flipped a few times." I said, lifting my shirt to my belly button to show the red seat belt mark that hasn't gone away yet.
She wasn't really listening. She was crying. Bawling.
"Katie?" Brennan mumbled enough for her to hear.
"Is-is he gonna die?" She hiccuped. I don't know why she was so emotional all the sudden.
"No Katie. I know he won't." I assured here rubbing her back.
She reached for her iPhone in my pocket.
I gave it to her and she sat it on the side table.
"I...I think I love him." She whispered, and I could barely hear her.
"She's really emotional. I think we should let her be until the rest of the pain killers wear off." Ms Jill said, pointing out of the room.
We decided to visit Caleb.
His face wasn't bruised or bleeding anymore. He looked perfectly fine.
Except, he wasn't. He had a heart problem and hasn't woken up and interacted with his family in two weeks. He hasn't gone to school and he hasn't played baseball in two weeks. There's so many things he hasn't done and might not ever do that the list could go on forever.
I stroked my hand over his forehead. He was even breathing normally.
Tears flooded my eyes but I wouldn't let one escape. I had to stay strong. For Caleb.

Doctor's POV:
I watched as the teenagers entered Caleb's room. They were his best friends. His family. It absolutely broke my heart seeing it.
As soon as the boy had nudged the girl out before she started crying I heard beeps coming from his monitor. I ran inside and pressed the blue button signalling for a code blue.
"Get a crash cart!" I yelled at my fellow coworkers. I started CPR while they rushed one in the room.
"Charge 150." I said sternly.
"Clear!" I shouted. I shocked the young boys body.
"No pulse. Charge 200." Calvin shouted for me.
"You aren't dying today kid." I whispered as if he could hear me.
"Clear!" I said, and felt my own tears fall as I heard the teenagers sobs.
"Charge 300 damnit!" I yelled.
"Clear!" Still no pulse. I handed the crash cart to Calvin and punched the boys chest in anger.
Suddenly, a pulse rose up.
Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep.
I heard the girl, around 17, come running in and throw her arms around the boys neck. They looked awfully similar, and I realized it was her brother.
The boy came in and kissed the girls cheek. He held his friends hand in hope.
His eyes opened.
I watched as they closed again and the girl laughed, tears still falling from her face.
"It's a signal he might still wake up. A good sign." I reassured the kids.
Stay strong for them, kid. I thought as if he could read my mind.
Two adults came in a hugged the girl. I decided to leave them alone.
"We're going to be okay. He's going to be okay."

I get most of the Doctor stuff from greys anatomy, which is probably 80% fake stuff. Whatever😂
Next chapter coming soon. Hope you enjoyed💜
