In Your Arms (A Brannie Fanfic)

Chaptee Fifteen

Katie's POV:
Being in a hospital is really boring.
I looked over at the side table and picked up my phone.
I went through the texts and noticed one from Zach. Annie said they let me decide what to reply, and what I said to him was pretty mean.
(Their convo)
Z- hey! I miss you💕 why haven't you been answering my calls?
K- well I don't miss you. I have a life too!
Z- wow, okay. I thought you liked me
K- I'm sorry. Katie is about to have surgery and is pretty moody.
Z- who the hell is this?
K- her best friend. She'll be able to talk after surgery.
Z- fine.
I looked at the conversation and noticed how rude Zach was being.
K- this is Katie. My surgery was finished a couple hours ago. You were pretty rude to Annie.
I smirked at my reply. Wait, did I like him or not?
He replied almost instantly.
Z- I was angry because of what you said. Calm down.
K- really?
Z- you seemed nicer in person. Meet for coffee?
K- you know what, forget it.
I slammed my phone down. I guess my feelings for him were fake.
I decided to try and walk.
I pushed he covers away and slipped my feet onto the cold hospital floors. Holding on to my hospital bed I managed to slip out to the hall.
My head hurt a little, but it was normal after a surgery. I watched the numbers on the doors.
106...107...108.
I creaked open the door in 108 and gasped when I saw Caleb's limp body. I hobbled into the room and rested my hand against his.
"Caleb... This is all my fault.." I said, tears forming in my eyes.
There was no voice in my head this time.
I loved him.
I cried more at the thought of him staying like this. And when he does wake up, it's not over after because of his heart problem.
I felt the hand wrap into mine. I looked up and just stared.
Did his hand just move?
The beeping on the monitor sped up.
"Uh, Doctor!" I shouted, my hand still interlocked in Caleb's. A doctor ran in and noticed his hand.
"These are signs. He's going to wake up soon." The female doctor grinned. Cried more happy tears.
"Oh thank god... Caleb your okay!" I shouted, hoping he could somehow hear me.
You can do this Caleb.

Brennan's POV:
Annie and I decided to go to my house after the hospital since we didn't want to go back to school. She sat on my bed and stared at me.
"He's going to be okay Annie. So is Katie. We will just have to wait, and everything will go back to normal." I said, planting a kiss on her forehead. She held my hand and we stayed silent.
"Will it ever go back to normal?" She asked me.
"Of course. Why won't it?"
"What if Caleb's heart condition kills him? What if the treatment does? What if Katie can't do gymnastics?" She continued.
"None of those things will happen. Katie and Caleb are strong, emotionally and physically. They can do this. I promise." I finished. She were quiet again and soon I heard her quiet snore.
What if she's right?

Katie's POV (again ik)
I actually almost fell asleep, holding Caleb's hand, until I his grip tighten. He started pulling my hand and the monitor started beeping again. I was about to call the nurse until his eyes shot open.
He's awake.
He started panicking and pulling at the ventilator covering his mouth.
I opened screamed when he started yelling. A nurse came running in.
"Why didn't you call me?" She shouted, pulling his mask off. I stared at him in shock.
"Keep an eye on him. He can take his first treatment tonight." The nurse eyed me as she left.
I sat down again.
"Caleb..." I whispered.
"The accident. What happens? Where's Annie? What about Brennan?" He said, anxiety lining his voice.
"They went home after my surgery."
I spoke in a calm voice.
"Surgery? Katie, how long was I out?" He said, grabbing my hand again.
"Two and a half weeks. Annie and Brennan are fine, I hit my head and fell. It messes up my brain so I couldn't remember anything. I tried to attack a doctor." I giggled, hoping to take his mind off how much has happened.
"What about me? What's wrong with me?" He sighed.
"You were in a coma. They found sown timing called HCM in your heart. It's extra muscle surrounding it and can cause you to have a short time breathing, and sometimes death. You get your first treatment tonight. They found it early so you're going to be okay." I said, out of breath from my paragraph.
He stayed silent and his grip tightened.
"Thank you Katie." He smiled.
"It's been really hard. I missed you." I blushed. He blushed as well.
Instantly, people came rushing it. First his parents, followed by Annie, Haykey and Brennan, and Sydney and Luke crashing in lastly. I pulled my hand away when I seen Sydney.
I could just hear the talking around me. It was overwhelming. His parents were crying, and Annie and Hayley were attached to Caleb's neck.

Caleb's POV:
My family left and it was just Katie. Brennan, Sydney and Luke. The second the door closed Sydney crashed her lips into mine.
There was no spark anymore.
I pulled away and watched her sad face.
"Sorry. I'm really overwhelmed." I said with a fake smile. I watched the glimmer in Katie's eyes.
"Dude, the whole team misses you so much. Practice is so boring. The power can went out earlier." Luke said, laughing. My face darkened as I realized I probably wasn't going to play this summer. I managed a chuckle and it was Brennan's turn to talk.
"Annie was a wreck. I don't know what would happen to her and Hay if you didn't wake up.." He trailed off.
After a few minutes of talking, it was just me and Syd as everyone left.
I was so confused. Just days ago I was in love with Sydney. And I went in a coma after noticing my feelings for Katie.
I felt like passing out from stress, just like Katie apparently had.
"I missed you. I missed your kisses." She blushed awkwardly.
"Uh, I did too." I lied. I was a horrible person.
"I hope things can go back to how they were." She said, grabbing my hand.
"Listen, Syd." I started, pulling my hand away slowly.
"Things are about to get really hard for me. I don't want to drag you down with me Syd." I said nervously.
"What are you saying?" She said, a tear falling on the hospital sheets. 
"Syd, I think we should split for a while. Everything is about to change. I..I hope we can stay friends. I love you Syd." I said, hoping I didn't make a horrible mistake. Her face turned red and the tears came flowing.
"I thought we had something Caleb." She murmured before running out of the hospital. My mom entered the room, vlogging camera in hand.
"...so I know you guys have been wondering where we've been most of the month. But a while ago the kids got in a car accident and Caleb went in a coma. Katie was hurt as well, so it explains why they haven't uploaded. We didn't know what to do and did have the courage to vlog through this time. But Caleb is awake and Katie is okay now. We hope you guys understand."
She said, and turned off the camera.
I smiled a little.
"Oh Caleb, I'm so glad you're okay." She sighed, hugging me for the 100th time.
"I broke up with Sydney." I said out loud.
Crap.
"You were dating?" She asked, pulling away from the hug.
I nodded.
"Don't worry. I'm sure it'll be fine." She said, grabbing my hand and smiling.
I just couldn't help but feel guilty for breaking her heart. All she did while I was gone was mope around and wait, and when I finally came back I shattered her.
I'm not worried about myself. I'm worried about it ex girlfriend, my friend.
Was she going to be fine?

Some of you thought I was going to kill of Caleb's character but honestly I couldn't go down that road.
Also, I totally ship Syd and Caleb but the #Kaleb ship is so cute. Gah.
