Chapter 63

Alex's POV

Alex: "That's not going to work. I need those lilies in by tonight."

?: "How about 6am tomorrow morning sir."

I sighed and sat back in my chair.

Alex: "Fine. 6am."

We finished the order and then I hung up. Tomorrow was Valentine's Day and I needed it to be perfect for Yn. I got up and went up to the bedroom. I opened the door to find a still sleeping beauty and her little munchkin laying in the bed. I had just arrived home this morning from Baltimore and found them fast asleep in our bed with Brax laying on the floor at the foot. Of course I had to snap a picture because they were just too cute.

I quietly walked over to the bed and pulled Alayna out, carrying her out of the room and closing the door. I took her into her room and found her uniform for school.

Alex: "Alayna. It's time to wake up." I gently shook her as she laid sleeping in my arms.

Alayna: "Cubby?" She rubbed her eyes and yawned as I put her down.

Alex: "Yes ladybug. It's me."

In thirty minutes, I had her dressed and fed. We headed out about 6:45am and I knew she was probably going to be late due to traffic. I got her to school 10 minutes after the tardy bell.

Alayna: "Uncle Aleexxx." She looked at the time and then at me.

Alex: "I'm sorry. I'll do better tomorrow."

Alayna: "I'll let auntie handle that," she said sarcastically.

Alex: "Well can I at least get some love," I chuckled as she leaned in and kissed my cheek before getting out and running into the building.

She was growing up so fast, making me feel old. She would be seven next week. My phone rung, interrupting my thoughts.

Yn: "Hey, where are you?"

I could hear slight panic in her voice.

Alex: "On my way home from dropping Alayna off. What's wrong?"

Yn: "Don't do that again!"

Alex: "What?"

Yn: "I woke up and couldn't find Alayna! If you knew what kind of nightmares I've had, you would be scared too!"

Alex: "I'm sorry baby. I swear I am."

Yn: "Just forget about it. I'll see you when you get here."

I pulled off after Alayna made it into the building, returning home. I went into the room and Yn was asleep once again. I just smiled and shook my head. I decided to hop into the shower. The hot water felt good on my skin. It eased my muscle aches and calmed me. Rinsing the soap off my body, I climbed out and dried off. I grabbed some lotion and covered my body with it before wrapping the towel back around me. I went in the room and climbed into the bed, causing Yn to wake slightly.

Yn: "You smell good." She buried herself into my chest.

Alex: "Thank you love." I wrapped my arms around her, bringing her closer.

Yn: "I'm still mad at you."

Alex: "I'm sorry. I just didn't want to wake you and I knew she had to go to school."
