Austin's POV
"Damn babe," He whispered in his deep voice,"You definitely marked me."
I furrowed my eyebrows together and sat up, "What do you mean?"
He sat up off the seat, holding me forward before I fell off and walked over to the dirty mirror on the wall. I watched as he moved his head to the side as he examined his neck. "Yeah, you marked me."
I walked over to him and looked at his neck to see a bruise already. "Oh my god I'm so sorry" I said, my cheeks flushing red, portraying my embarrassment. He turned around and took hold of me waist.
"Don't be, I think it's hot" He winked. I looked down at my feet as my hair curtained over, hiding my blushing face. He chuckled at my innocence.
I looked up to Madison and saw her gaze caught on something in the distance in a stare like she was in deep thought.
"You okay?" I asked as I gently tugged on her waist slightly to shift her gaze. She nodded slightly, in an unconvincing manner.
"Madi," I warned. I hate when she hides things, wether they're important or not. She bit her lip in thought, something that drives me absolutely crazy.
"It's just," She sighed, trying to word things properly. "What are we going to do now?"
I knew she meant the situation with her parents.
"Well, do you want to go back there?"
"Well I am just a disappointment so," She chuckled but I could hint the sadness behind her laugh. I took a gentle hold of her chin.
"Hey," I cooed, "Don't let what they said get in your head, okay?"
I was not about to let anything her parents said make her feel bad about herself.
"I mean it," I sighed and she nodded in response. We were interrupted by her phone ringing in her back pocket. She pulled her arms down from my neck and slid her phone out.
"If it's your parents, don't answer it." I stated.
She nodded, "It's Cassidy."
I clenched my jaw in reaction to hearing that bitches name
"You're not answering that," She furrowed her eyebrows.
"You can't tell me what to do, you're not my parent," She said with a cold glare.
I scoffed, "Well no, because I don't hit you."
I immediately regretted what I said.
She just kind of stood there, taken back.
"Why would you bring that up?" She muttered in a sad tone.
"I'm sorry-" I took a step towards her, but her small hand pressed against my chest.
"No," She shook her head, "No you're not otherwise you wouldn't have said it."
I huffed, moving back and running my hand through my hair as I closed my eyes.
"You know, things were actually going okay for once and you had to dig at me. Do you even think about how it hurts me Austin?"
I let my hands fall to my sides, "Yes, baby I do." I said desperately. "I messed up, okay. I'm sorry."
I took hold of her waist before she had time to push me off again and held her close to me. She tried pushing me away, but I wasn't loosening my grip.
"Can you just stop?" She sighed desperately.
"Can't you?" I shot back. She gave up and just looked up at me.
"You're very beautiful" I said and kissed her forehead.
She rolled her eyes playfully, "Classic." She said, referring to how I tried to win her over.
"It's true though" I shrugged.
"Stop" She whined and hid her face in my chest.
"Aw is someone embarrassed." I cooed, kissing the top of her head.
"No" She mumbled childishly, making me laugh.
"It's getting late," I sighed, "I better go and visit your parents."
Her head shot up. "No you don't have to. My dad will kill you," She said in a panic.
"Wow babe thanks for having faith in me," I chuckled.
"Seriously" She pleaded.
"Look, the worst he could do is take a few hits okay? I've had worse before." She sighed, knowing I was right.
"Can I go?"
"I don't know Madison.."
"Please?" She begged, "I might not see them again for a while," I gave in to her pleads, I'd hate to be the reason for her regretting something, and this could be the last chance she gets to see them.
We walked over the front door and slid our jackets on, she was wearing one of mine, because hers were upstairs in the bag of her stuff.
"Where are you going?" Finn asked us both.
"I've got something to take care of," I replied vaguely, looking down at Mads then back up at him. He caught on, "I'll come with" He said.
As approached the front door, Madison hooked onto my tricep, clearly feeling uneasy about the whole situation.
"Don't worry babe, it'll be fine." I reassured.
Before I could see her response, the door opened to reveal a man much older than me, who was obviously her dad.
"Madison!" He said loudly, and took a step towards her. She took a step back in response.
"Get inside right this minute!" He yelled with pure anger as he took hold of her jacket and pulled her.
"Get the fuck off of her bro!" I pushed him back and he stumbled back, surprised.
"Stay behind" I mumbled to Madi, pulling her back behind both Finn and I.
"You must be the monster Cassidy told us about," He spat angrily.
"Dad," Madison gasped in shock at his choice of words.
"Call me what you want, but I'd never lay a hand on Madison, so we all know who the real monster here is." He stepped down from inside his house, causing me to step back too. I noticed Finn had took Madison to the side and was calming her down.
"That has nothing to do with you." He spat angrily and pocked his finger to my chest harshly.
"It has absolutely everything to do with me," I sneered. By now we were both up in eachothers faces, broad chests and nostrils flaring.
"I bet the police would love to hear about this child abuse case," I smirked.
Before I could blink, a fist had collided with my nose. Instinctively, my own fist collided into his left jaw. He pushed me up against the wall of the house with my nose bleeding. His hands held a strong grip around my neck which seemed to tighten every few seconds.
"Dad stop!" Madison screamed as loud as she could.
My vision blurred a little, but with the little strength I had left, I shoved him off of me. I spat to the side, which turned out to be blood.
"Ask her yourself." I spat with fury. "If she wants to stay with you, I'll walk away and I swear I won't fucking step foot near her again."
I followed his gaze over to his daughter who had a tear stained face.
"Madison." He said and slowly approached her. "Don't you want to stay with us? You don't realise what you're doing. You're young and your making a huge mistake."
"Dad," She choked out with nothing but pain. "I can't," She shook her head, "I can't stay here. I'm safe with Austin," She sobbed.
"You're a disgrace to this family," He spat in disgust.
"Family?" She choked out, "Family don't hit eachother," She said, standing up for herself. "We're not a family."
He shook his head in anger, "Madison-"
"Can we go now, I want to leave," She pleaded, looking at me and Finn. I nodded and Finn walked to the SUV with her.
"I gave her a chance." I stated to her father, with no respect towards the man what so ever.
If I could have it my way, he would be dead for even hurting her. Maybe it was her mum who hit her, but its towards her parents as a whole, and he's never given her the respect she deserves. I walked off and over to the SUV before another scene could break out.
"Thank you Finn" Madison mumbled, loud enough for him to hear, as she jumped out of the car.
She was silent the whole way back, which I didn't understand. She's always had this kind of drama with her parents, the only difference was that this time she had a way to escape from it all. I decided not to wind her up for once, and I just left it, making conversation with Finn.
Madison's POV
I quickly walked back into the house, shivering from how cold it was outside. I made my way upstairs and into Austins room, trying to avoid everyone.
I slid my jacket off and rested it on the back of a chair. I didn't bother untying my shoelaces, so I just slid them off; along with my jeans and shirt. I was too exhausted to rummage through my bag for clothes, so I just slid on one of Austins shirts which were on the floor. I tied my hair into a messy bun, which never seems to look perfectly messy, and slid into bed.
As I lay there in the quiet, dark room, all I could hear were the harsh words from my dad.
You're a monster.
I felt like I should have defended Austin more than I did.
He's always protected me and kept me away from danger, and there I was, letting my own father call him a monster.
I tried to stop my dad from hitting him, but Finn wouldn't let go of me.
I have so much anger built up inside of me that I can't get out.
I loved Austin for doing that for me.
I know the lifestyle he lives is always busy and he has his own things going on, but he always seems to find time for me. He made me feel special.
I was distracted from my thoughts by light seeping through the door which slowly creaked open. Austin quietly walked in, and I looked over at him by the door.
He slid his jacket off and placed his keys on the drawers. From the light outside the window, I could see his perfectly sculpted torso as he was shirtless with just his basketball shorts on. He looked over at me once more, this time realising I was awake.
"How's my girl?" He asked softly with concerned eyes.
"Tired" I croaked, in a sleepy voice.
He nodded whilst he yawned, walking over to the other side of the bed and laying down. His arms found their way around my waist, pulling my back to his chest. He rested his face in the crook of my neck, leaving chaste kisses there.
"Are you sure you're just 'tired'" He asked quietly. I nodded, wanting nothing more than to sleep right now. I turned my body around and tucked into Austins torso, his muscular arms holding me tightly.
"Get up!" A loud voice boomed into Austins room.
Still half asleep, I snuggled deeper into Austins torso and his arms tightened, holding me closer to him. He rested his forearm over his eyes, covering the day light as the curtains were open.
"Seriously kids, get up-"
"Alright fuck slade! We get it, jesus christ!" Austin said loudly, nearly making me jump.
"Look, I don't have time for this Mahone. Get yourself to school. We've got stuff to do today and we could do without your ass in another detention." Slade said with authority, and left the room quickly before Austin could comment back, which we all knew he would do. I shifted my head so that I could look up to Austin.
Hey" I said in my whispery sleepy voice.
"Morning babe," He mumbled, leaning down and placing a kiss to my forehead.
I kicked the comforter off my body and slowly got out of bed. I walked over to the mirror and sighed. I looked like a mess. I took my hair out of the messy bun which was just a ball of hair on my head, letting it flow past my shoulders. I shuffled the hair up from the roots of my hair.
"Get back to bed" Austin groaned. I sighed, going over to my bag of clothes that I had brought with me. I went through it, trying to find a nice outfit.
"No, Austin. You heard Slade, you need to get to school on time. It sounded important." I didn't want to burden the guys by staying here, so the least I could do is get Austin out of detention.
"Fine" He spat, getting out of bed and going to his closet.
"Just fine?" I questioned, looking up at him after picking out my outfit. He nodded slowly, in confusion.
"You're not gonna argue with me on this one?" I questioned. "Don't test me babe." He muttered
I walked downstairs and stood in the kitchen.
"Hey Madison" Leo greeted.
"Hi" I mumbled, shyly. I couldn't help but feel intimidated by his presence. I knew he didn't want me here from what I had heard from Austin, so he wasn't my favourite person. I looked down to my wrist and fiddled with the bracelets set on them.
"Look," He sighed. "I know we didn't really start off on the right foot, and I apologise for that, but I want you to know that I will still protect you like one of our own. You mean a lot to Austin, and I know he doesn't express that to you," He chuckled, "But it's true. You've changed him."
My gaze fell to the floor in an attempt to hide my blushing cheeks. "Well, thanks-" I was interrupted by a pair of hands gripping my waist securely.
"What's going on?" He questioned protectively.
"Nothing, Austin." I said. I placed my hands over his on my lower stomach in attempt to calm him down. He turned me around and I looked up to his eyes. I knew he was angry.
His jaw always clenched and his eyes were squinted just slightly. But he was controlling it. I looked at him with pleading eyes to not start something right now, and thankfully, he understood. He tore his eyes away from mine and over to Leo.
"Leo." He greeted bluntly, with a nod. Leo nodded back in response.
"Well, we better leave" Austin said, intertwining his hand with mine. I nodded and followed him out to his car.
He jumped in the drivers seat and I sat in the passengers seat, like always.
"Hey," He cooed, gently carressing my thigh, "It's gonna be alright. You'll be alright."
Again, for the tenth time, I nodded, nibbling on my nails, which is something I tend to do when I'm nervous. Upon noticing this, he took my hand away from my mouth and intertwined it with his.
"You're quiet baby," He said in a questioning voice. I let out a big breath I didn't know I was holding.
"Do you think I'll ever be able to see my family again?" I mumbled, quietly.
I know they did something no family should ever do; but that doesn't change anything. Well, it changes a lot... But not the fact that I love them. And I always will.
"You don't have to do this." Austins gaze shifted back to the road after the light turned green. "The minute you tell me you want to see them again, I'll take you. I'll give you anything you ever need baby," He paused like he wasn't sure of his next words,
"I love you,"
My heart froze at his words. I've always heard of this moment and read about it in books. The whole butterflies feeling- I didn't think it was real.
I studied his face, his cheeks tinted with a red glow. He must've been nervous about saying it, due to his blushing. I knew he was trying to play it cool. And I guess that's why I'm so shocked about it, becaue Austin never expresses his feelings towards me like that.
After snapping out of my trance, I realised that I should probably answer him back.
"I love you too" I couldn't help but giggle.
"You're so cute," He chuckled.
Everything was perfect in this moment.
