-Austin's POV-
"Are you sure you wanna do this man?" Finn asked. I nodded. "This is really big, don't just rush into anything-" "I know I want to do it, okay? It's my decision, leave me the fuck alone about it." I stated. He raised his arms in defence, "Chill out, I weren't disagreeing with you."
"You guys know what you've gotta do right? You better not fuck this up" I narrowed my eyes at them. "Yeah, we've only been over it about 58 times now," Leo said sarcastically.
-Madison's POV-
Slade picked me up from the mall. I had to go by myself because Grace was visiting family today which kind of sucked. It took a lot of convincing to let Austin go on my own, since none of the guys wanted to go with me either.
I collapsed straight down in the passenger seat on the car, chucking all of the bags to the back seats.
Slade laughed, "Long day?"
"You have no idea!" I furrowed my eyebrows, "Where's Austin?"
"He had to finish doing something so he sent me to come and pick you up." He stated, looking both directions of the road before he pulled out.
I looked at him skeptically. "What do you mean he had to finish doing something? What was he doing?"
He shrugged, "That's... for you to find out."
"Slade," I sighed, "I don't think he's in the right frame of mind to be going back to work yet, he needs a break."
"He's fine, you worry too much. You'll end up giving yourself heart attacks over nothing," He articulated.
"I wouldn't exactly say it's over nothing..." I crossed my arms stubbornly.
Slade told me had to go somewhere else once he dropped me off, so I grabbed the bags from the back of the car after thanking him and headed indoors. I dropped the bags to my feet and pushed them off to the side. I was about to head towards the couch to take a quick nap until a line of petals caught my eye.
"What the-" I whispered to myself. I followed the line and eventually ended up in the kitchen. The only light filling up the room was that of about a hundred candles, casting a romantic glow over the whole room. I felt my heart swell in surprise as I looked around in awe. It was beautiful.
"What do you think?" I heard Austin ask. I turned around to see him walking towards me.
"It's so-" I cut myself off, "Did you do all of this yourself?" I said, still in shock.
He nodded with a look of uncertaincy playing upon his features as he kept his gaze on me. "What's wrong?" He asked quickly as my eyes went glossy, "Don't you like it?"
"I love it, it's beautiful," I smiled, looking down, "No one's ever done something like this for me before"
He stepped closer to me and tilted my chin upwards with his thumb and forefinger. He leaned down and kissed me passionately. "I felt bad about how we left things last night and I wanted to make it up to you." He paused, "Are you hungry?"
"Starving." He pulled out my seat for me and sat down opposite me.
The food actually looked delicious for once, which was a nice change from the usual take out. "This is amazing," I said after taking a bite, "Did you make this?"
I watched as he nodded with a smirk on his face, popping his collar. I giggled to myself because I knew he was lying and that he obviously got help from someone, but I decided to let him have his pride on this one.
"How was the mall?"
"It was okay. It would've been better if someone went with me"
"Did anyone try talking to you?" He asked, before putting another bit of steak in his mouth.
I decided to play around with him a bit. Looking down at my wrist I twisted my bracelet around mumbling, "Actually yeah, there was this one guy..."
I looked up to see Austin with his eyebrows furrowed. "What did he do?"
"He was just trying to flirt with me-"
"What a dick," He muttered. "Do you know his name? What did he look like? Did he touch you?" I tried to hold back a laugh as he rambled on and fidgeted uncomfortably in his seat.
"Austin-"
"See this is why you can't just go out on your own looking all hot and shit because-"
"Austin"
"This is why I should've gone with you instead-"
"Austin!" I said loudly and firmly, snapping him out of his trance. His worried expression turned to confused as he returned his gaze to me.
"What?"
"I was just kidding" I said letting out a laugh.
He let out a breath of air that I don't think he knew he was holding in as he ran his hand up and down his face feverishly, "You're a piece of work, you know that?"
I held eye contact with him and cocked my eyebrows up, "I wouldn't exactly consider you to be any better than me, you're a pain in the ass half the time."
He smiled cockily, "You're worse than I am."
"Asshole" I muttered.
"You love me" He snickered, holding my hand from across the table as we were done with our food.I couldn't exactly disagree with that so I sat back in defeat.
A comfortable silence fell upon us where we were both enjoying being in one anothers company. I felt his hand squeeze mine, snapping me out of my thoughts and making me return my gaze to his gorgeous hazel eyes. "Mads," He started, but paused as if he was holding back from something. He twisted his lips to the side in concentration.
"Austin" I questioned, feeling uneased by his actions. "Is everything okay?"
"All my life I've had a feeling as if I'm missing out on something. It's not until recently that I realised it was you," He chuckled to himself, "I've missed you before I even met you. I don't know why you still stick around with me after all of this shit and you and I both know that you'll always and forever deserve more than what I could possibly give you. When we fight, you fight back and you're not afraid of me. You put me in my place and you've never been afraid of me. Ever since we first met you've always treated me like a human instead of some... monster. You're everything that's good in my life right now, and I love you so much. I want to be the one you always turn to when you're down, I want to be there for you, always, and I want to be able to come home to you for the rest of my life." He paused, breaking eye contact and taking a deep breath in. I knew he was nervous and my heart felt like it was going to beat out of my chest.
He leaned down on one knee in front of me, revealing a box with the most stunning ring I have ever seen. I gasped in shock holding my hand over my mouth, my eyes tearing up. "Madison May" He whispered, looking up into my eyes with his. "Will you marry me?"
