-Madison's POV-

Letting out a satisfied sigh, Austin started up his car. "What?" I asked. I watched him look in the rear view mirror as he pulled out of the parking space, his large hands wrapped around the steering wheel, driving with ease. "Well to start with, I'm full as fuck" He paused for a moment, letting out a single huff of air as if he were laughing, "And secondly, that's the first time we've been out with no drama." He stated. Moving my gaze onto the road, I watched the scenery pass by, illuminated by the street lights. "That's a good thing, right?" I questioned, looking at him once I didn't get a reply. He shook his head, "No. It just means something's bound to happen any minute soon." He said, his gaze set firmly on the road ahead of him as his whole demeanour changed. He wasn't as comfortable before. "I'm not scared of anything." I shrugged freely. His lips curved up into a smirk. "You have nothing to fear."

"I wish we could do that kind of stuff more often, you know?" The roads finally became familiar as you were getting closer to home. "I'm sorry," Austin said. Though it came out more like a whisper; the words barely leaving his mouth, as if he was unwilling to say so. My face fell into a frown, "No I didn't mean it like that I was just saying that-" "I know, Madison. I know what you meant okay?" He spat. Here it goes again. "Okay..." I muttered with an eye roll, getting out of the car as we had finally arrived home. "Roll your eyes one more fucking time..." He muttered from behind me as he followed me in. "Just shut the fuck up, Austin. We can't just go and have a nice meal out without you fucking it up and treating me like shit." I shrieked, throwing my hands up around me in total despair.

Austin didn't need to speak for me to know that he was fuming. It's the same old shit with him, again and again. Before he could actually say anything, I turned around and stormed through into the house. "Hey Madison, you alright?" Slade greeted casually. "No leave me the fuck alone" I said, far more rude than necessary. "Alright, I see the date went well." He chuckled to himself and continued scrolling through his phone.

-Austin's POV-

"So I see it went well," Slade laughed. "Fucking hell man, she went all crazy on me." I said, and fell straight down onto the couch, laying on my back. "Well that makes two of us then" He said, obviously finding the whole situation hilarious. I furrowed my eyebrows, "What did she say to you?" "Nothing really bro, but it was clear she was pissed off" He shrugged, taking a seat on the other couch. "She drives me fucking insane" I sighed, running my hand through my hair, gripping the ends as if it relieved stress. "You drive each other insane" He said simply. "Whatever man, I could really care less about it all right now" I mumbled, wanting to take my mind off it.

A few hours passed of me doing fuck all until it was way past midnight. Feeling my eyelids get heavier and heavier, I decided it was time to call it a night. I opened up the bedroom door, not really giving a fuck whether or not I'd wake Madison up. Lazily taking my clothes off and leaving them in a pile on the floor, I changed into a pair of sweats and slid into the warmth of my own bed. I turned on my side, looking over at Madison, clinging to the sheets like she always does. "Don't touch me, Austin." She warned, through her tired voice. "Weren't fucking planning on it." I muttered. And for one of the first nights, I fell asleep without her right next to me.

-Madison's POV-

Austin wasn't there when I woke up this morning, and I honestly didn't care. It felt good to have space from him. After jumping in the shower and getting dressed, I was finally ready to leave. "Hey Mads you ready?" Grace asked, popping her head round the door, and then stepping in fully when she saw I was decent. "Uh yeah- are you sure about this? Like we really want to sign up for this?" I questioned, biting my lip. I weren't completely sure if I was taking the right path or not. She shrugged, "This is something I've wanted to do for the longest time... I can't really answer that for you, it's just what you want to do." I guess she was right. Something in my heart was telling me to go, to finish up my education at college. Just like Grace, I've wanted to do that too. Sometimes I've just got to do what makes me happy. "Yeah you're right. I want to go, it'll be fun" I smiled, standing straight, brushing away all my negative thoughts. "That's the spirit" She beamed at my happier outlook.

"Okay so we'll be back in 3 hours." Grace said to Finn, placing a quick kiss on his lips. He nodded, "Okay Grace... Just, call me if anything, and I mean anything weird happens" He said seriously. She nodded. "I will, promise" Watching them both enjoying their company made me miss my other half. Because that's exactly what Austin is to me- my second half. Maybe I didn't really want to talk to him, but it was times like these where I realise how different things are when we don't get along. "Why would something weird happen? Where's she going?" Austin asked, walking into the kitchen with an empty beer can in hand. Not even acknowledging me once, he threw the can away. "We're going to class today," Grace said. "Finn? Learning? Why the fuck would you want to do that?" He asked, scrunching his eyebrows together. "I meant me and Madison," Grace said.

I couldn't help but notice Austin kind of froze in place when he heard my name, but then continued. "And you're alright with that Finn?" He asked. "Sure... I don't see why not." Austin shrugged, "If you're waiting for my opinion then I don't really give a fuck to be perfectly honest." My gaze fell to the floor, my heart sinking with it.

He didn't give a fuck.

He didn't give a fuck where I was going.

He didn't give a fuck about who'd be there.

In that moment, he just did not give a fuck about me.

"Well then that's great. We'll be leaving now" She said simply and quickly, grabbing hold of my arm gently as she walked past me. "Don't show that it bothers you" She whispered into my ear. I guess she was right. He clearly doesn't care so why do I?

"So this it," Grace said. We were walking around the building, just trying to become familiar with it whilst we still had a few minutes to spare. "This is hell for the next year" I sighed. She laughed, "It's gonna be good" She said confidently. "Hey!" I heard someone call from behind us, we both looked around, and Grace's face changed to a huge smile. Riley. "Riley it's so good to see you!" She said happily. "You too" He hugged for a few seconds before she pulled away. "Madison, right?" He asked, looking at me. "Yeah, it's nice to meet you." I said politely. "Nice to meet you too," He winked.
