As I lay in my bed later that night my mind begins to wander. I had already finished my homework and I've already had dinner and finished my favorite show on Netflix. I already calculated that id have hours of time left over. I knew the outcome. So I just laid here, thinking. About Sam.What was he going to say? What was the rest of his sentence? God knows id give anything to figure it out. What would've happened had he stayed? What would've happened if... I shook my head and set myself straight. "Listen Nina" I told myself. "You're thinking too much into this. Sam doesn't feel the same. He was probably going to say something else. Why would he like you?" My own thoughts were a bit condescending. I was bullying myself. I turned to look at the time: 9:54 PM. Maybe I should just sleep. I begin to get up until I hear a "Tap!" I turn to my window and wait. Nothing. I shake it of until I hear another "Tap!" at this point im curious and go to my window. No ones there... bird maybe? I leave my window slightly open to let the breeze swirl through the room. I turn off my lights and lay down. I begin to feel myself drifting into sleep... until something in the room feels off.
I open my eyes and nearly fall off the bed. "Wanna do something fun?" I can hear Sam say from atop the bed. I peek up rubbing my groggy head. I see him smiling as I get up. "SAM! What are you doing here?!" I shout in a whisper. He pats a spot on the bed so that i'll sit. "No!" I whisper in annoyance. He laughs a bit and pulls my hand down so I sit. "So lets go do something." He says eagerly. All I can do is just stare at him. Why would he come here at 10 at night and expect me to go anywhere with him when he ditched me for Jenna earlier. Did he think I was that stupid to say yes?
I give a very obvious look at my alarm clock. "Sam it's 10 at night, why would I go anywhere with you?" I ask sternly. "Because..." Sam then reaches over and pulls up my fallen strap on my tank top back onto my shoulder. I can barely breath. His fingers brush up against my skin lightly and shivers are sent down my spine. He was ever so slightly biting his bottom lip. Once the strap was in place he looked at me in the eyes. "Because you're my best friend and its our last year...let's do something crazy...just the two of us Nina." He was talking in a low slow voice that I could hardly handel. I knew for a fact if I went id be caught. I knew id get into trouble. I knew all the outcomes that covered me and guarded me like a shield. But as I stared at Sam all of them disappeared. My shield was gone.
"Where are we going..." I ask slowly. His grin becomes a full on smile. "Its a surprise." I take a deep breath. "Let me get changed." I get up off the bed and walk to my closet making little noise as possible. I can feel Sams eyes still on me though I try to avoid the thought altogether. "Bring something you don't mind getting wet in." I hear him whisper from across the room. My face turns bright red as I hear him say that. What was wrong with me? I knew what he meant...what was I blushing for? I turned to him and took a deep breath. "Like a bikini?" Sam thinks for a minute or so. "I guess, just put something over it...its kind of chilly tonight." I reach for my bikini, some shorts, and a light t shirt. "Turn around." I whisper. Sam sighs and turns around. I get dressed as quickly as possible and then tell him he can look again. "Anything else?" I ask.
