The drive was long and I felt myself fall asleep a few times, my head falling shaking me awake. I hadn't noticed but Sams hand was wrapped around my thigh tightly. Maybe for my reassurance, maybe his. The sky was a sunset orange slowly turning navy as we drove longer and longer. All that was out here was woods, trails and one way roads. Perfect for a road trip, horrible to find someone In. It was like a needle in a haystack. Plenty of people got lost in these woods each year, never did I think that someone close to me would be.

Silence filled the car ever since Sam started driving.

..."remember when Alyssa first introduced us..."

I smiled. "Yeah I do. "

..."everything was so easy and fun back then. No worries. Just us three. A team." Sam said reminiscing.
I wanted to hold back the tears and be strong, but it was too hard. My eyes began to burn like they had so many times before and I felt them fill up with we tears. The tears came streaming down as I cried silently facing the window. She's out there. I thought. All we have to do is find her...

But what if it's too late

I shook my head vigorously. She's strong... it's not too late

But she also went with this guy when you thought she wouldn't... everyone has a weakness

The internal thoughts ate at me. My mind was at war and it wouldn't stop. Then Sam pulled to the side stopping the car.

"Sam! We need to keep goi-"
"Nina you need to stop." He said dead serious. "You're going to kill yourself before we even get there." I tried to speak but he got louder.

"NO!" He shouted. My heart stopped and I sunk in my seat like a puppy looking up at him with my wide eyes and tears still falling. I fell silent and listened to his booming voice.

"YOU NEED TO STOP AND LISTEN. WE'LL GET HER. SHE WILL COME HOME WELL AND ALIVE. SHES STRONG NINA, SHE'LL BE OK. SO STOP CRYING, SIT UP STRAIGHT AND LETS GO SAVE OUR FRIEND."
Before he could finish his sentence he had turned the car back on and began driving as fast as he possibly could, pushing my back into my seat not able to register what had jus happened.

My heart sank. That's what happened. I had never really had Sam yell at me before, and it was the least of my problems right now but, it hurt. For the first time I was scared because of and of Sam. I didn't like the feeling of fear and Sam combined.

When we pulled up the gates to the park were closed. Sam looked at me thinking of a way to get in.

"How about a throwback." I said. "What?" Sam asked a bit confused. "We'll just climb over the fence like we did at the pool." Sam smiled and climbed up reaching his hand down. I followed after and used his hand to pull me up and over the side tumbling a bit as I landed. Sam of course landed perfectly on two feet.

I pulled out my phone and went searching through my apps to "find my friends."

"If she still has her phone, then we'll be able to find her using mine. I have alright service out here so..."

Sam nods his head in agreement as I search for Alyssa following the GPS through the woods.
*********************

It was pitch black outside and my phone battery was on 19%. Every crack we heard made us jump and any howls we heard kept us on guard. Crickets created noise wherever we lefts and the wind blew cold sharp air lifting the leaves off of the ground and swirling them around. If she was alive, there was no way she would stay alive much longer in this cold weather. My phones GPS showed that she was just a few minutes away but the dot stopped moving.

"She's stopped." I said concerned. "Maybe she needs to catch her breath. I would." Sam said. Then it hit me, if she's stopped we could run and catch up with her and with no context we both began to run still following my phones direction.

When we stopped, we both were breathing heavily. Hands on your thighs bent over trying to catch our breath. "W-where is she?" I asked looking around. Sam stood up straight and looked around. "I don't know, this isn't making sense..." I looked everywhere when I heard Sam shout.

"Nina! Over here!" He found her! I thought. With every tired muscle in my body I ran through, hitting every branch, every leaf and every bug in my way to catch up to sam.

"ALYSSA?" She wasn't there. It had only been Sam down on one knee observing an item in his hand. "What is that?" I asked. Sam raised his hand revealing Alyssa's phone. "Sam she was here, she can't be too far away!" I frantically began to call out Alyssa's name when Sam covered my mouth and pushed me up against a tree. I tried to squirm and fight back but it was no use against his strength. "Let me go!!! I need to find her!!!! Sam please!!!" I muffled over and over again into his hands. I began having a hard time breathing, breathing in became hard and tears clouded my vision as I looked up at Sam one last time... "Sam...please..."
****************
I woke up every so often. In increments.

I opened my eyes to see Sam and another guy fighting, Sam was on the ground, the other guy on him punching down as hard as he could. Sams eyes met mine and I felt a surge of pain rush through me. What if this was the last time I saw hi-

I fall into sleep again

I wake up to see Alyssa hovering over Sam, she was covered in only a blanket and there was blood all over her and Sam. "Alyssa-"

My eyes drop...

This time when I wake up, it's Alyssa shaking me awake, she's screaming. "NINA GET UP PLEASE! SAMS BLEEDING AND IM BLEEDING!!! OH FUCK PLEASE HELP!!" Alyssa falls down as I get up still groggy. As I look around both Sam and Alyssa are down, eyes closed blood trials everywhere and over their bodies. "Oh shit... what do I do..." I began to freak out when I hear a sound.

"Crack"
I turn slowly to see a man. He's covered in black clothes and blood. Sam and Alyssa's blood. I take a step back, my heart was beating a million miles a minute and I found myself paralyzed.

"She should've listened to you... poor girl only wanted to be loved. She only wanted to be cared for... but nothing was better than seeing her beg me to stop. Her eyes, ooooh her eyes were filled with fear. She knew I wasn't going to stop and she knew it was going to hurt her... oh but she still begged, and begged, and begged me not to" I could see him shiver and a small smile spread across his face.

"And oh the fun I'll have with you..." Matt walked towards me slowly as I reached out of my pocket and called 911. Nothing stopped me as I began to run away in pure fear. I have to call 911 and save my friends. I have to save them, I have to save them.

"911 what's your emergency?" I hear the lady say. I try to remain calm.
"There's a man! He hurt my two friends Sam and Alyssa! They're bleeding badly and he's chasing me! Please! Please send help! I scream as I feel Matts hand grab my shoulder.

"Ma'am please stay on the phone, where are you?" I toss my phone next to Alyssa in hopes they can track it. "Come on princess, it's just a game, no need to be scared..." with the adrenaline pumping I run down past the freezing stream, and upwards behind a tree... I could hear his steps...

"Crunch, crunch, crunch..."

My heart pounded deep in my chest as I tried to keep my breath low and quiet... oh god... please... someone help...
