Reborn

Chapter 2

                  

My first thought when I wake up is that I'm wasn't in the woods anymore. Instead of lying on the cold forest floor I was lying on something soft and comforting. A bed? I opened my eyes slowly to find that I was in my room. Light flooded through the window onto my bedroom floor.

How did I get here?

I got up slowly and swung my legs out of bed. I was still wearing the clothes that I had been wearing in the woods and there was a couple of dirty marks on them. I decided to change into some black shorts and a white blouse.

I walked down stairs and into the lounge where my Mum was reading a book. She looked up as I walked into the room and a look of relief flew across her face. She put her book down, reached me within a second and pulled me into a hug.

"Oh Bon, I'm so glad you're okay! We were worried sick." She took my face in her hands and looked me over to check for any cuts or bruises.

"What happened?" I asked,

"Well when you didn't come home yesterday night we knew that something was wrong because we couldn't contact you on your phone. We knew that you like to go out to the woods a lot so we searched there. We were out there for an hour before we found you lying on the ground. We rang the doctor and he said that you most probably had a heatstroke and fainted from the lack of water. Dad had to carry you home."

"Oh" I said even though it didn't seem like I had fainted from heatstroke. The image of the big light ball flashed across my mind as well as the pain and warmth that I felt as it absorbed into my body.

"But Bonnie, why weren't you more careful. You're usually so responsible. What happened?"

I wanted to tell her the truth; I wanted to tell her that I didn't actually think it was a heatstroke but instead a huge ball of light hit me in the face. But I realised how crazy that sounded.

It then occurred to me that such a thing wasn't possible, it must have been a hallucination which would be the only explanation. A heatstroke probably caused it.

"I don't know... I'm sorry Mum"

She sighed, "It's okay but next time please be careful.".

She looked at me for a while longer and then she let go and walked into the kitchen.

She asked me if I wanted anything to eat which I said yes to instantly because I hadn't eaten since yesterday lunchtime.

She made me a jam sandwich as well as giving me some tomato soup. This amount of food usually was enough for me but I was still starving once I had finished them.

"Uh Mum, please can I have another sandwich?" Mum turned around slowly acting like she was completely horrified.

"What!? Another sandwich? This is completely unheard of!" Although it wasn't surprising I was still hungry considering I hadn't eaten since yesterday.

She made me another sandwich which I devoured within a couple of minutes. I was still slightly hungry  but I didn't want to trouble Mum anymore so I thanked her and went up to my room.I got into my room and found the bag that I had brought with me to the forest. I found my phone and put it on charge.As soon as it turned on I was flooded with messages from my friends. They had probably heard what happened.

I noticed my best friend Kaylyn's name pop up on the screen. Hey I heard what happened... r u okay? I decided to message her first.

Me: Yeah I'm fine I guess x

Kaylyn: That's good x everybody was worried about u. We heard last night that u hadn't been seen since school and every1 kinda freaked out.

Me: I'm sorry I scared every1 but I'm fine now... I'm still hungry though xD

Kaylyn: Haha, well do u want 2 meet up and we can grab something to eat?

Me: Sounds good I'll c you in a bit xx

Kaylyn: Kk x

I grabbed my bag and headed downstairs.

"Hey Mum can I meet up with Kay?"

"Uh sure but remember you fainted from heatstroke less than 24 hours ago... be carefully Bon"

"I will."
