I had no idea so many people could live in one house. There must have been over 30 people living in one house. But then the house was massive.
Everyone had gathered into the garden. I knew people were staring at me and it made my skin crawl. If it wasn't for Kaylyn I would have been running home, again.
I would glance over at Adam occasionally. His arms were crossed against his chest which made his muscles pop through his shirt. His blonde hair was messy like he'd just got out of bed, but in a way it looked stylish. Once in a while he would look at me, our eyes would meet and then we'd both look away quickly.Everyone gathered in a semi circle, I noticed most of the people who lived were all very young, there wasn't anyone who looked at least above 30.
I turned towards Kaylyn,
"Hey why is everyone so young." Kaylyn didn't look at me when she replied,"Although there are a lot of us living in this house, this isn't the whole pack. There are a good couple of hundred people in our pack overall but we are all spread out in different houses in the area. It isn't even possible for everyone to live in one house." She laughed then continued, "Most families in the pack either live separately from the pack, like my family or they live in a mansion together. Our pack house is for the 'youngsters'. Typically 15-30 year olds live here. But we're never too far away from the other pack houses." She said,
I lifted my eyebrows in surprise, "You guys must have a lot of money to afford these mansions."
Kaylyn smirked, "Yeah there's a lot of us. That means a lot of money comes in from people working. A percentage of their paycheck goes towards the pack. It means that we can supply for the whole pack."
I was about to ask how many pack houses there were but I was interrupted my Lucas walking into the semi circle with girl. The girl was beautiful, she looked like a typical model, slim, tall and elegant. She had luxurious black hair that reached down to her hips as well as the brightest blue eyes I have ever seen.
"That's Carmen." Kaylyn whispered to me, "She one of the pack warriors." I nodded even though I couldn't actually believe that she was a warrior. But I guess you couldn't judge someone by their looks.
"Everyone by now probably know about Bonnie," Lucas pointed at me, making me blush "and we are going to be showing her the ways of the pack because she is now one of us."
"We thought what better way to show the ways of the pack by watching someone actually transform into their wolf. Luckily Carmen here said she wouldn't mind transforming." He nodded over to Carmen who smiled. Lucas gestured to Carmen to take the stage."Just warning you now Bonnie, but when werewolves transform back we don't have clothes on... because you know, our clothes don't fit werewolves."
I gulped, "So does that mean that everyone here has seen each other naked.
"Yep, pretty much." She chirped.
I looked over at Carmen who was actually taking her clothes off in front of everyone. I couldn't watch this, I didn't want to watch. I put my head in my hands before I could see her naked. I heard a couple of people laugh at me.
Kaylyn snapped at the people who were laughing, "Oh come on guys. Please remember that seeing people naked all the time isn't normal in the outside world. Bonnie's just being respectful to Carmen." She chuckled a bit though from how red my face had turned.
Everyone was silent but I still kept my head in my hands, I was too innocent to see someone naked.
After a while I started to hear clicking. I didn't know what was going on. The clicks were getting louder and eventually they started to sound like snapping. I kind of sounded like bones breaking.
I really wanted to look up and see what was going on but it took me a while to find the courage to do so. When I did I saw Carmen huddled on the ground, luckily she was pretty much covered by her hair. Then I noticed that something was moving underneath her skin. Whenever something did I would hear a snap. Was I witnessing her bones breaking. The snapping got louder and louder and Carmen's body started to change. Her spine seemed to protrude outwards. It took me everything not to squirm or scream where I was sitting. I didn't know how Carmen wasn't screaming because what she was going through must have been painful. Before I could ask Kaylyn what was going on Carmen screamed and her body changed completely. She jumped high in the air, all the time her body was changing. Growing fur, paws, and a tail. Her facial features was replaced with a muzzle and ears. The only thing that still resembled Carmen was her piercing blue eyes. The girl was gone and standing in front of me was a wolf.
I had to suppress a gasp.
The wolf was a light grey and it's fur looked soft. The wolf was looking at me dead in the eye. I wanted to squirm from its intense glare.
Lucas walked over to the wolf and stroked its head, the wolf leaned towards Lucas looking pleased with itself.
"Why don't you come over here to get a better look?" Lucas called over to me, I thought frantically for words.
"No I'm good thanks, the views fine from here." I heard a couple of people chuckle.
"Oh get over there already." Kaylyn laughed and pushed me up. I wanted to swear at her but I held it in. I took a deep breath and walked slowly over to the wolf, for all that time it was staring at me."
"This is crazy" I mumbled to myself.
I stood next to Lucas who was smiling at me.
"I thought I should properly introduce you to Carmen." He said whilst Carmen and I seemed to be having a staring contest.
I didn't know what to do, hold out my hand so that the wol... Carmen could shake it with her paw or nod my head in respect. What are you supposed to do when you great a wolf?"Nice to meet you." I said with uncertainty.
The wolf shook its head then came over to me and rubbed its head along my hip. I shivered. I was half terrified, half fascinated by the animal. I kept reminding myself that this wolf was actually a person and not just an animal. I couldn't get this fact round my head.
"Yeah she is isn't she." Lucas seemed to say to himself.
"What?" I frowned at him.
"Sorry, I was talking to Carmen." He said
"No you weren't, you haven't said anything." As I said this some people chuckled. God I was making a fool of myself.
Lucas chuckled, "I guess Kaylyn hasn't told you about mindlink."
"What the hell is mindlink?"
"Well, werewolves can communicate through thought." He said it like it was the most normal thing in the world. When I realised he wasn't kidding I reacted.
"Holy shit." I said almost to myself. Again people started laughing. This must have been quite amusing to them. The things that they found normal was the most interesting thing in the world for me.
"It works in both human and werewolf form but when we are in werewolf form we always communicate through mindlink because that's the only way we can communicate." He said.
I didn't say anything for a while. Instead I just stroked the wolf's head as I thought.
"I have a lot to learn." I admitted to myself.
