Kaylyn didn't talk to me for the rest of the journey. It seemed like she had something playing on her mind but I wanted to ask her what was wrong but I knew she wouldn't answer.

The pavement had turned into the forest floor some time ago and I knew we were in the same forest that I fainted in but I had never been in this part before. The trees were closer together and the undergrowth was more dense.

Kaylyn stopped slowly and turned around to face me,

"Bonnie you have to promise me that you won't tell anyone about this."

I was confused, tell anyone about what? She had literally just dragged me into the woods.

"Kaylyn you are starting to scare me. What are you talking about?" I looked her dead in the eye. This wasn't Kaylyn; she was usually so bubbly and sweet. We would always joke around and not take things seriously. This was someone completely different.

She looked down at the ground,

"I've been hiding something from you for a long time Bon... But if I tell you, you won't believe a word I say. So the only way I can prove it to you is by showing you."

"Show me what?" I frowned,

"I can't here, we need to keep walking"

"How far is it?"

"It's not that far, there's a clearing in these woods with a house in the middle. That's where we're heading."

I laughed, "Why would someone have a house in the middle of woods? Kay you sound crazy!"

I saw the side of Kaylyn's mouth twitch upwards,

"Trust me, you haven't seen crazy."

About half an hour later we entered a clearing and sure enough there was a house... but it looked more like a mansion! Why had I not seen this before, it was huge. The white house towered over the trees. The grass around the house was freshly cut and the garden seemed to be fenced off from the rest of the clearing.

"Who lives here?" I asked Kaylyn,

"Many people live here but some people do come here just to visit sometimes... Technically I live here too."

That didn't make sense, I had been round her house hundreds of times, she lived 10 minutes down the road from me.

"So you live in more than one place... with other people? Do you have a huge extended family that you've failed to tell me about?"

Kaylyn chucked,

"Kinda yeah..."

That was a surprise, I was only trying to make a joke...

"Okay then..."

As we got closer to the mansion I could see people walking past the windows, no one looked out of them, if they did they would have seen us by now.

Suddenly Kaylyn grabbed my hand,

"Lucas, you better get down here." Kaylyn said to nobody,

"Kay I'm the only one who can hear..." She shhhed me and carried on,

"You need to see someone."

"Kay seriously who are you talking..." But I stopped; a man emerged from the house. Even from this distance I could see that he was a well built and tall. He stared at the two of us for a while before walking over.

As he got closer I could see him better, he had jet black hair that was jelled and spiky and a beard but as he got closer I noticed there was something peculiar with eyes. I then realised that his left eye was brown and the right was half brown half blue. He had heterochromia.

"Kaylyn who is this? Why have you brought her here?" His voice was strong and deep yet somewhat calm.

"This is Bonnie, she's my best friend. I think something happened to her that you might want to hear." She turned to me "Go on Bonnie, tell him about the 'hallucination' you had".

Lucas's intense stare rested on me, expecting an answer.

I stuttered,

"Well um, yesterday I was in the woods walking home and then I saw a ball of light, it came closer to me then kinda..."

"Kinda what?" His facial expression had changed, he looked confused yet astonished.

"Um... it kind of... absorbed into me. Then when I was about to pass out I heard a voice in my head."

Kaylyn turned to me suddenly,

"Why didn't you tell me you heard a voice?!"

"You didn't really let me finish in the first place." I shot back at her, she blushed and looked down at the ground.

"What did the voice say?" The man looked slightly annoyed now,

"It said Mara..."

A gasp escaped Kaylyn and Lucas's expression had turned from confusion to shock.

"What... what is it? Do you know a Mara?" Just as I said this, another figure appeared from the mansion, he looked over in our direction and once his eyes set on me I felt something. Warmth and energy built up within me and I felt somewhat foreign in my own body. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the guy coming towards me... I couldn't control myself, before I knew what had happened I shouted something.

"Mate!"

Then I was running.
