I knew as soon as I opened my eyes I would have to face what had happened the previous night. Everything was fuzzy, but I could still remember what had happened; Adam, his lips on mine, Matthew pushing him off of me. Last night I was annoyed at what Matthew had done but now I was extremely thankful.

Kaylyn had stayed at the Pack House with me. She had told her parents about the events of last night and that they were their cover up story (I had slept over at Kaylyn's house). Kaylyn's parents understood that if my parents found out what had really happened then they would end up finding out about everything.

"Are you awake?" I heard Kaylyn called softly from beside me. We had slept in a spare room on a king sized bed.

"Yeah but I'm afraid to open my eyes," I admitted, I already had a slight headache but once I opened my eyes it would be 100 times worse.

Kaylyn chuckled, "I would be too considering what you drank last night."

I moaned, "I wish I could forget about what happened, it's burnt into my brain."

Kaylyn was silent for a while,
"It's my fault this has happened." Her tone of voice changed.
I braved the pain and opened my eyes to look at her. Light spilled through the window to the right of me, burning my eyes and plunging knives into my head. I moaned in pain.

"No, it's not your fault." That's all I could say.

"You know that's a load of crap. I should have taken into account that you hadn't fully transitioned into a werewolf. It was a stupid decision." She said slightly louder although I had a feeling that she was telling herself off.

I sighed,
"This is a new situation for all of us. It's not just me going through this, it's everyone. Fern's death affected everyone, you're all scared that Fern's killer will strike again, Fern's wolf Mara has bonded with my soul which is turning the pack upside down.

Kaylyn only responded with an 'hmm'. It seems like she was having a battle inside her head.

"It wasn't your fault," I repeated to her in attempts to sooth her but to no avail.

Slowly I sat up and rubbed my eyes but my headache was not giving me any mercy.
"I'm going to go get some water," I said to Kaylyn who just nodded.
I slipped my legs out of bed. Cold air wrapped around my bare legs and held me still for a split second. I had slipped off my shoes but apart from that, I was wearing the same clothes from the night before.

"Could I borrow some clothes?" I asked Kaylyn, who nodded and started to get out of bed as well.
"I'm sure there's a wardrobe downstairs with spare clothes in," She rubbed her eyes.

As Kaylyn and I walked softly through the house we noticed that no-one was up yet,

"What time is it?" I asked Kaylyn,
"I don't have a watch on me, Bon. I'm as clueless as you," She said with a quiet laugh.

As we passed a window I saw that the sun wasn't yet high in the sky which showed that it was still quite early. It was probably 7 or 8ish. But I wasn't surprised that people hadn't got up yet.
We padded down the stairs and into the great hall. Kaylyn walked over to a large wardrobe and opened it. All types of clothing filled the wardrobe; men's shirts, women's shirts, dresses, skirts, jackets, trousers, cardigans. You name it.

"You said this was the spare closet? There are more clothes in here than I own!" I admitted.

Kaylyn laughed softly, "Usually when someone transforms from human to wolf they take off their clothes first but," She awkwardly coughed, "but if someone has to transform suddenly then they destroy their clothes. We always have spare clothes on hand." She smiled.

"That's handy," I said, as Kaylyn passed me some tight black trousers and a burgundy tank top.
"If you need anything from here just come and grab something." She said. I thanked her and walked into the nearest bathroom to change.

I slipped out of my clothes and changed. Because I was short the trousers were a bit long for me. They went half way up my feet. I rolled them up enough so that they were at my ankles. Oh the problems of being short.

I walked out of the bathroom to find that Kaylyn wasn't where she was a minute ago.
"Kaylyn?" I said quietly... no answer

"Kaylyn?" I said a little louder, still no answer.

"I swear to God Kaylyn if you pop out of somewhere and scare me I'm going to kil..." But I stopped as soon as I walked into the kitchen.

Kaylyn stood to face me, a face of pure horror was plastered on her face.

"If you scream, shout, cry or even breathe. This beautiful, young lady will have a knife through her head" A chilling voice called out.
The voice belonged to a man holding his hand over Kaylyn's mouth whilst the other hand held a knife centimetres from Kaylyn's face.

The man sniffed the air,
"I'm surprised they would even allow a human into the Pack House." He smirked at me. I didn't know what to think. Everything had happened so quickly that I hadn't had time to process it.

The man had mouse brown hair that was brushed back away from his face with strands of white on the side of his head. His body looked aged but he stood strong with no signs of fatigue in any limb.

I didn't react. I didn't know how to. Kaylyn's eyes told the same thing. They weren't screaming 'save me' or 'save yourself', her eyes were now filled with a mixture of confusion and utter shock.

"Most Werewolves know who I am but you seem to be clueless, my dear," the man smiled, "so I'll give you a hint little one," he paused for a moment as if to give effect, "I am the one who took poor Fern away from this Pack." He said with a proud smile.

As soon as he said this my blood turned cold. All I wanted to do was scream but if I did Kaylyn would die. I was frozen on the spot. If I moved one single finger he could hurt my best friend because for all I knew he was capable of doing such a thing. I knew who he was, the name terrified me.

This man standing before me... was Maki.
