Chapter 7

My alarm clock went off at 7. Every part of my body felt heavy, it felt like the Monday blues even though it was Sunday.

Lazily I got out of bed and got in the shower. The warm water rolling down my back started to wake me up. When you're in the shower you think about a lot of things. All I could think about was werewolves. Last night's conversation kept playing around in my mind. If Werewolves were real, what else was real? Pixies, unicorns, vampires, fairies? How had they kept themselves secret?

After about 10 minutes in the shower I tried to distract myself from thinking about werewolves anymore. It was stressing me out. Failing to do so I washed everything and then got out.

I wrapped myself in a towel and looked at my face in the mirror. My wet brown hair clung to my head and then lightly rested on my shoulders. I looked closely and saw that more freckles had appeared on my face. Probably from the recent sun I'd been getting. In order to look at the mirror properly I had to go on my tip toes because I was small. For a 16 year old I looked younger... the height or the freckles didn't help. But it was fine. People referred to me as cute and I guess I was fine with that.

I walked back into my bedroom and slipped on a tank top and some shorts. I skipped down the stares and into the kitchen. Mum was already up and from the smell of it she was making pancakes. What surprised me even more was who was sitting at the kitchen table.

"Good morning Bonnie, hope you had a nice sleep. I'm making pancakes for Kaylyn, do you want some?" Kaylyn grinned at me as I sat down.

"Yes please."

"So Kaylyn has been telling me about the movie you're going to see today, sounds great!" Mum said, I looked over at Kaylyn who was giving me the 'just go along with it' face.

"Yeah I'm really excited! I've been wanting to see it for a while." I chirped up even though I had no idea what movie Kaylyn was talking about.

"Not surprising considering you've read all of the books for it." She laughed. She was talking about Maze Runner. I let out a sigh of relief silently.

"Well yes but I think she's more excited to see Dylan O'Brien in it." Kaylyn smiled.

"Ooooo has Bonnie got a celebrity crush?" My Mum turned around to look at me with raised eyebrows. I blushed whilst Kaylyn and Mum laughed.

Once they had finished laughing, Mum handed out the pancakes, we both had 5 each. Mum was surprised at me because I usually only had two.

Just before we finished our pancakes, Dad came down and gave me a pat on the head.

"Morning lovely" He said and then went up to Mum and kissed her. My Dad worked everyday and came home late evening so I did't get to see him very much. We would always do something in the holidays though and he would call it 'making up for the time he'd lost'. He worked very hard and he never let the stress show but I knew it was there.

Kaylyn and I washed our plates, thanked my Mum then walked for the day,

"Have fun!" Mum called after us.

"We will!" Kaylyn called back.

I reached for the doorknob but when I went to open the door, the doorknob came off in my hand! I yelped as it did. I thought that maybe the doorknob was just loose but as I looked at it I realised that a big chuck of the door had come off with it.

Kaylyn had witnessed it happen and her mouth had dropped open.

"Is everything okay over there?" My Dad called from the kitchen. Then I heard foot steps.

I frantically scrambled for an answer,

"Uh yeah Dad, everything's fine. I just tripped." I said whilst staring at the huge chunk of door in my hand.

"Bon you have to be more careful." My Dad laughed, thankfully he didn't come any closer and couldn't see what really happened.

"We will" Kaylyn called back because at the point I wasn't able to answer. Kaylyn grabbed the doorknob out of my hand and put it back into the door. It was literally just resting in the door so the next person to use it would have a weird surprise.

"Come on" Kaylyn whispered, she grabbed my hand and pulled me out the door.

Once we safely got out the house I finally spoke,

"Kaylyn... the doorknob came off in my hand..." I said even though I knew she knew full well what just happened.

"I know... It was cool."

"But how am I going to explain it to my parents?" We weren't able to answer that, instead we both burst out laughing.
