My rumbling stomach woke me up. I looked over at my alarm clock. It was way past 11 o'clock at night which meant my parents had gone to bed some time ago. I swung my feet out of bed and started to make my way downstairs.

You don't realise how much the house creeks until you're sneaking around it trying to get food from the fridge, I thought.

I had got into the kitchen and opened the fridge and picked up a loaf of bread as well as some ham and salad. I made myself two sandwiches and whilst I was walking out of the kitchen I picked up an apple and some crisps.

I munched on my sandwich whilst making my way up the creaky stairs, my parents were unlikely to wake up because they were both heavy sleepers so I knew I didn't have to be too careful.

But opening my door into my bedroom took me nearly everything to not scream and drop my food. There sitting on my bed was Kaylyn. She obviously noticed she scared me and mouthed a 'sorry'.

"Kaylyn you scared the shit out of me." I whispered angrily at her.

"I'm sorry I just had to check that you were okay. What happened earlier was not supposed to happen."

I quietly laughed out of anger, "Oh so you could predict what was going to happen. Kay what is going on? I keep asking questions but none of them are getting answered. You said that the people that you were taking me to would be able to answer questions for me but all I got was hands around my neck which left a bruise!" I pointed at the bruise on my neck.

Kaylyn frowned, "Uh Bon, there isn't a bruise there."

My eyebrows pulled together in confusion,

"What? Yes there is, I saw it earlier." I said

"Uh Bonnie, I think you should look in the mirror."

I stared at her for a second before putting my food down on my desk and walking over to a body length mirror on the other side of my room. It took me a second to realise that the huge red and purple bruise that was there only I few hours before had now completely disappeared. I looked closer and touched my neck to feel for any tenderness. But it was fine. Somehow my neck had healed within a couple of hours.

"Oh my god." I whispered,

I turned around to Kaylyn,

"There was a huge bruise there a couple of hours ago Kay, I swear to God. But now it's just... disappeared."

Kaylyn looked at my neck for a while, we both had the same expressions on our faces.

"This doesn't make sense." She said

"Tell me about it." I replied but Kaylyn shook her head.

"No not about that. What you're going through isn't normal."

"What do you mean? Oh course this isn't normal, I healed within a couple of hours."

There was silence between us. Kaylyn was thinking about something. I knew when she was thinking about something because she would always chew the side of her bottom lip. She closed her eyes and sighed.

"Bonnie come sit on the bed, I have some explaining to do."

I seriously nearly laughed in relief.

"Finally!" I walked over and sat on the bed.

It took a while for Kaylyn to begin talking to me.

"Okay, you have to promise that you won't speak until I'm finished speaking, okay?"

"Okay." I said

Kaylyn sighed again before speaking, it was almost like she had to build herself up to say this.
